Been wanting these Drift Fry for a cpl. months, really hard to get bait but the local monkey got them in today.

This is one of the baits that Fujita kept trying to keep secret during the last season.

Apparently, you put them on ball jigheads, and most mid stroll with them.  Not much info on them though.

Sweet.  I was just checking out the 'RV' drift fry on JLS while putting an order together.  It has peaked my interest....

I like to see the line between hard baits and soft baits getting blurred. It's nothing new, but I think it's the one frontier where there's room to grow.

Another somewhat similar pretty neat little plastic bait is the Deps Frilled Shad. Also fished on a round ball jig head. Very subtle shimmy back and forth. I do great with these on clear water Smallies. I also like that the plastic 'frill' on top also makes it somewhat weedless. Somewhat.

I have been wanting to try this. I known of one guy that fishes them for smallmouth but he fishes in open water, no FFS. He uses the 0.9g Keitech ball heads with the weed guard. I don't think its his go to favorite but I have seen him catch some big ones on it.

This bait is nothing short of epic brother, and I don't throw that word around much for baits.   It's so incredibly unique when mid strolling or mopping it with that secondary rolling action.   The back color along with the side colors flash back and forth with that retieve.

Caught over 40 fish on my first bait until a Spot ripped the tail off this morning, switched to a new one, and busted another 25-30 fish on the second one and it looks like it's gtg for another 25.     The most durable "expensive" JDM soft plastic I've ever used.   I thought Damiki Armor Shads were durable, but these things are energizer bunnies.

Today I caught them mopping and mid strolling it, yesterday just mid strolling it.    Both days in open deep water 95% of the time like your friend using 2D sonar heavily.   I posted a report in the latest catch thread.

A guy like you who has all the gucci JDM awesomeness must get these imho.

7'3 XH Expride. I know many consider this one of the best frog rods on the market. I think I'll be using it for jigs/t-rigs in heavier cover and some punching when I don't feel like digging the the bigger rod out. This will be my 5th Expride (3 A's and 2 B's). I can't say enough good things about these rods. I don't know, it may end up as a frog rog. We'll see. Will pair it with MGL 70 or 150. 8 speed MGL 70 has a longer handle than the 6 and 7 speed. Anyone know if the 8 speed MGL 150 has a longer handle? If I put 50# braid on the 70, I wonder if I'll be able to bomb a frog without spooling it.

And a mixture of other odds and ends.

My New Year’s resolution was to not buy any tackle this year.

“Hello, my name is Kevin Smira and I’ve been clean and sober for 10 days now.”

But members on here don’t count, right? And since it wasn’t actually tackle (it was a reel) it doesn’t count either, right? And I had to get line, but that doesn’t count either, right?

Oh, and during rearranging my tackle over the last couple of days, let’s say the bait monkey sees me coming with apparent looks of belly weighted swimbait hooks of all sizes and shapes running through my head. Pretty sure if you took one swimbait of every one made, I’d have a hook for it…I have absolutely no idea why either…

Mine have been held up in customs for a few weeks - this is a first when ordering from Japan.

I braved the snow on foot to feed the monkey lol, cars in the body shop due to a deer 🦌 in December.

2 jerk baits

2 packs of crappie under spins

3 packs of line through swim bait heads

2 packs treble hooks

2 packs juggle minnows

I can’t stand setting around the apartment, snow, cold, and weather doesn’t stop the monkey.

Yep, you know it lol. It’s a very slippery slope sort of like the sidewalks that I was walking on today.

Our December was snowless. Mother Nature is making up for it today!

They said that we were supposed to get a winter storm today here, I never believe the forecast. I don’t really call 3-6 inches of snow anything really. When I use to live at my grandparents old place when I was 18, dead smack in the middle between kalkaska and grayling. 17 miles to town no matter what way you wanted to go. We use to get 14-16 inches overnight and nothing closed and life went on like normal, down here they would close everything down and declare an emergency if that happened lol. The winter has been very odd this year here, but there’s still time.

Just some maintenance items and a few baits. Stupid pickerel keep swiping my Frittside 5s and the only hooks I can use around here for Neds. One day I'll smarten up and listen to @A-Jay and pick up some Surflon tie-able metal leader instead of praying each time I get a bite this time of year: "Please God, don't let it be a pickerel", then it is, then doink, then seeya later bait. MFer#^&*$#@*%^!
