Super User NorthernBasser Posted April 10, 2023 Super User Posted April 10, 2023 That dang Matt Allen suckered me into trying the new Bill Lewis ATV 1.5. Out of the package they seem nice. Triple Grips for hooks. I think the Zoom Uni Toad is gonna be a winner. It's actually bigger than I was expecting. Nice that they come in a clam shell. Wasn't expecting that from Zoom. 11 2 Quote

I've had some of the most amazing days on the water because of baits he recommended. I never would have tried something like the Axe Blade or perhaps even a Vault or similar blade bait. I like Tim, but I watch TB because of Matt. 2 1 Quote

Those guys are making Bill Lewis a lot of money. I still fish the Rat-L-Trap now and again. But other than that, I haven't given Bill Lewis bait much look beyond that. Had I not seen the ATV on their videos, there's a good chance I never would have come across it. I love squarebills so I'm always looking to try a new one out. 1 Quote

Matt and Tim really tune in deep in tackle, I use them as tackle encyclopedia and they are really good at their job. They are missed here in CA when they move out last year. The difference on them with others is that they are not brand loyal and also they cover soooooo much tackle and brands for everyone with different budget. 1 Quote
Fat Ika Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 Can never resist an exclusive TW GP/blue color. Nice to see hog farmer adding a sunfish color. Bucca nacho's size is more appealing to me. Dense plastics are an addiction. Reups on a favorite dropshot plastic. New DG tactical mini underspin. I prefer this style keeper, bite gap, and underspin arm length vs the coolbaits underspin. Hopefully they add a 2/0 or 3/0 hook to the mini lineup and come out with a non-mini version for 3.8 plus paddletails. 10 Quote

I have been expanding my horizons into fly fishing got my first set up last week. Just to save time I have been stopping on the way home from work to do a little stream fishing. In the past I have always hated when I lose a trout lure so over the winter I stocked up on Rooster Tails. Got more than I can count now. So snags or not I'm just going to fish. Quote

Cbump Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 Anyone ever get bored at 9 at night and even though you know Walmart doesn’t have selection for anything, you go there anyway to look because it’s the only store open with tackle? Probably just me. Lol 2 4 Quote

txchaser Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 The 3.8, 4.2, and 4.8 Fat Impact has been comically good this spring for dirt shallow fish so I thought I'd try some new things. Geecrack Jack Master Swimbait in 4.8". Thickness looks like Swing Impact < Fat Swing Impact < Jack Master. Haven't fished this one yet, I think it's going to do best on a 6/0 flashy swimmer vs a 5/0. Geecrack Bellows Gill Swimmer 4.2" - can rig it correctly IE not from the side. Great gill profile, definitely catches fish. Doesn't need an owner beast hook, just a 5/0 weighted. Probably runs fine with no weight. Geecrack stuff is expensive but... dang it's good. 4 Quote
Cbump Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 I have some big regular bellows gills but they stink so bad I haven’t used them lol Also I couldn’t help It. Just placed an order for a couple p-line spools, hayabusa pitching hooks, Owner twistlock flipping hooks, owner rig-n-worm hooks, and a culling tag holder to mount in my livewell. 1 Quote

Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted April 13, 2023 Super User Posted April 13, 2023 Should have taken a picture but my local high end shop just got the Tactical Bassin Tactical Wake baits in, man they are killer looking! They come in this sweet big wooden box with the hardware separate. They were about $80. So close to buying it like an idiot lol. Had Daiwa days going on, and had a few Tat 300s left for $170, I'll regret not buying one, but I just wasn't quite ready to buy another reel. They had Zillion SV TW Gs for $300, wanted to tell the dude that I could get them for $250 from Japan and if they'd price match haha. The Burrito saved me as I had been wanting one for some time and decided a $40 bait was enough. Haven't bought Tungsten in close to 20 years, man it sucks to spend good money on bullet weights while hard baits are screaming pick me. Lastly, I never thought somebody could make prettier colors with soft plastics than Roboworm, then I found Missile Baits. The colors they create are so unique and cool. Inflation truly sucks, these things were 3.99 a pack a week or two ago, now the most recent batch they got in a 4.69. My local store usually has similar pricing as TW. 11 Quote
Jmurphy87 Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 Well my local shop has there local sale going on so stocked up on a budget lol. I reworked a spinner bait that I didn’t like years ago. I finally know what I am buying and not just buying gimmicks lol, I don’t know what I was thinking a quad willow spinner bait face palm. I took it apart on Sunday and decided what I wanted to do. I wanted a single bronze blade but all they had were willows, didn’t want that. I settled on a 4.5 hildebrant Indiana blade in gold, next was my skirt choice beast coast pro pumpkin. I think it looks ok, your thoughts ? I bought some mustard triple grips and got a free pair of split ring pliers so I could live with it. next stuff I bought was a royal pain in the butt. I took my daughter to dsg to get new shin guards for soccer. I saw a few sixth sense lipless cranks that I liked, I then saw a sign that said buy 3 get 3 free so I picked out 6 baits that I liked. Got to the register and they tried to charge me for all of them. I told them about the sign they called a manager and they looked, took 10 minutes and then they tried to tell me that it was only googan and rapala buy one get one and I told them it’s on the end cap and says 6th sense hard baits and soft baits buy three get three free. 10 minutes later they come back and take the 3 off so I get 6 cranks for $30 but they were rude and didn’t want to help. I don’t see me really going there much anymore. 9 Quote
