May have to steal your idea and try it with one. I’ve been drilling holes in the 3600 and 3700 boxes for a long time. I don’t have rusting problems and don’t ever remember having them. I drilled my holes on the sides around the perimeter of the box. If it starts to rain while I’m out and don’t put it back in the storage compartment the 3700 lid will shed the rain. But this doesn’t happen very often. Your carry handle is nice and the look perfect for jerkbaits. Good luck. Primarily I wanted those boxes just so I didn’t have cranks lying on top of each other getting beat up. The holes for rust prevention is a bonus. I think I paid $7.50 for each box. 2 Quote

Not only that, but any time you have plugs or any treble-hook-lures sharing a tackle box slot, they want to birds-nest all the hooks together. 2 Quote

Not enough room? I used to dislike trebles getting tangled up too so I started using treble covers. In addition to prevent tangling, they also help keep the hooks sharper too. @MN Fisher turned me on to this. 1 Quote

Allows me to have 'knot confidence'. Exactly why I use clips. So much easier and faster to retie to a clip than a bait. Stops me from forcing the wrong depth, color or action too long as well. I guess the bait monkey could say I have a rod shortage. If there were 5 jerkbait rods & 8 crankbait rods on my boat I might not have to change the bait as often. Quote

JohnFromLisbon Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 Made a few smaller orders over the weekend, two of them arrived today 4 Quote
walleyecrazy Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 I’ve heard a lot of good about the Duo Realis jerkbaits, so I decided this year I’d give them a try to see how they compare to my current favorites the Vision 110 and Provoke 106. Also grabbed some other baits to try and some stuff I needed to restock as well as a bunch of terminal tackle. I’m a sucker for glide baits so I also picked up a new 8” model that Golden Belt Customs just released. In summary the bait monkey is very pleased right now ? 7 Quote

Deephaven Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 Had a couple baits that had no rods to live on all the time, so I had Lonnie make me a couple more. Was short a reel as well so I resolved both. 3 Quote

jtharris3 Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 Got my spring restock order in. Getting ready to do some sorting and arranging! I picked up a dedicated square bill/lipless crank bait rod and reel setup for this year. I went with the new KVD Lew's reel and the KVD CC2 rod. Looking forward to using this combo this season! I got an extra reel to replace one of my old speed spools that finally gave up the ghost on me last year. My wife saw the boxes arrive and just rolled her eyes! LOL! She knows what to expect each spring. This is just part of the order. The first shipment was about 25 packs of Rage Craws, Rage Bugs and Rage Menaces that I already put away. 4 Quote

JohnFromLisbon Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 The last two tackle orders are here. They were out of 5" double tail grubs, swapped it for the hula grubs. It's just a matter of cutting out the skirt when I put them on a jig. Also, this year I'm making a conscious effort of branching out, trying new stuff. These are the first Megabass and Lucky Craft lures I've ever gotten. The Simms sun gear should be here on Monday (ordered from a really nice fly fishing shop in Germany), which will help keep my white spots from turning bright red every time I'm out in the sun, and a certain rod I had been looking at on the website for weeks now and finally pulled the trigger on should arrive soon after that. 4 Quote

Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted March 19, 2021 Global Moderator Posted March 19, 2021 Got back from Bass Pro a little bit ago. This is my haul, plus 4 3700 boxes (4 for $10). The Senkos belong to the wife. 6poundbass got a Lews combo. I was looking for a Dobyns Fury but apparently they don’t carry them, so I figured I’d give the SC A try. This will be my first SC rod so we’ll see how this particular model works out. 6 Quote
