Have you used these before?  If you have what do you think?  If not let me know what you think, have been looking at those for a few weeks now.

Haven’t had a chance to throw them but they are supposed to be a good copy of the old zoom wec. They look really nice out of the box. I was to lazy to take them out the box and lay them out. Now that’s lazy. Also a couple of the cbs whith the circuit board lips. These baits look b e u i te Full !

Alright, so I ended up getting rid of my Lews and Abu reels.  Out of all that I traded 2 reels to get myself a new Tatula 100P - a good light crankbait reel that I installed on a St Croix 7' Premier medium power crankbait rod.

I also happened along a woman where I live that sold me a brand new T3 Ballistic for 25 bucks.  Her husband died last fall and I bought some ice fishing gear from her so she told me I could have it for 25.  I immediately ordered bearings and installed those today as well as put on better handle and knobs.  Pretty stoked about this reel.

I also had to get a few things from the local tackle shop because my friend gave me some money for tackle for helping him out...

I just wanna say that I have a friend with the opposite problem. He won't spend anything on fishing, and he has the money.

"I'd rather fish these lakes for free and catch nothing than spend money and time to catch"

Huh?!?!?

So he does just that - spends little, won't travel an hour to one of the best fisheries in the country (The Delta), or a bit farther to another top fishery (Clear...something...?), catches virtually nothing, and he says he's fine with that. I know he's full of crap but he's stubborn or something.

That ain't me so I just won't ask him to go anymore! The Bait Monkey is my friend 'til the end!

seriously though, I am lucky to still rely on buy parents for food water shelter etc. I work many hours and very hard in order to fund my fishing. My entire life plan revolves around me literally saving every cent I can when I live on my own. I am planning on renting/buying a super basic and small apartment, cooking cheap healthy food, and minimizing non essentials, fishing being essential. I will allow spending on anything that improves quality of life, ie dentist workout gear, healthy foods, etc. I have developed a mentality and am fully prepared to commit to it, her, I already have!

edit: looked through recent purchases on debit card, all fishing/boating except gas. long live the bait monkey!

My wife's grandfather was like that. He couldn't have cared less if he ever caught anything. He just loved sitting by the lake with a fishing pole and relaxing.

Thoreau obviously sucked as an angler ;) Excuses excuses.

I love nature too, but if that's what was most important to me I'd leave my gear at home!

Seriously though, some types of fishing are more for kicking back and drinking beer and seeing the sights. Bass fishing is a pretty active method of fishing and ya, I do love fishing a beautiful area, but I'm mainly there to catch fish.

I haven't bought anything since February, but had to have a fix this week!  Finally bit the bullet and bought some jack hammers.  Also got some old school baits balsa crankbaits.  And some other odd and ends.  Hopefully that will hold me over for a little while.

i’ve been on a serious bender with gear lately.... It all started with a G Loomis IMX Pro 822 DSR , some how i went into April needing one spinning rod and will be leaving May with all new gear almost from

a Scorpion MGL , another stradic ci4 , stradic FL , Curado swimbait rod 8ft , Daiwa Lexa WN 300 , and i won’t bother mention the tackle but i been trying to organize my stuff. I’ve always been picky about keeping my soft plastics in the original bags. but this season i’m trying something new and putting them all in plano boxes, besides anything made of Elaztech.

It's been in quarantine for almost 2 months now since I ordered it right before the world went crazy. Finally showed up from Japan 2 days ago.

Had to bite the bullet and get some $20 rods at wal mart and some supplies for swamp fishing next week. Got it all for under $90. Like @N Florida Mike said, the place was picked clean! I need to find some heavy sinkers before Sunday , although I might be able to get them down in the swamp

Heck they want $40 for those things now. Same price as the far more sensitive Berkeley lightning rod. I only need heavy tackle once a year for my Deep South vacation.

I actually use my Ugly spinning rod for lighter Jerkbaits, especially since that is a no feel presentation. The action is perfect for my style of jerkbait fishing. They also go in the kayak and are my in truck river rod for the summer. Save the better rods for the boat when I need more sensitivity. I honestly don't mind the extra weight.

Bait monkey got me twice in 4 days! But a week long camping/fishing trip calls for it anyhow. I’m starting to feel like @JediAmoeba on this thread....... got all this at academy sports for $60, found one of my wheelhouse $12.99 7’ medium heavy fiberglass rods (should be good for chatterbait and buzzbait)  I’ve never pegged a bait, thought I might try but couldn’t find bobber stops. Think a split shot will do it?

I can't pass up a good deal!  I am happy to send my monkey to anyone - just let me know the address.

You can make your own bobber stops out of braid...
