Never thought about what color it needs to be if I ended up in the water. I use a standard PFD. I don't trust inflatables to work. Not to hi-jack this thread - but while I can totally understand your thought process, I can tell you with quite a bit of confidence, that your 'decision' is dramatically reducing what we call 'probability of detection' (chances you will be found). And that means from the air & the water.  Understanding that very little is visible above water (tops of your shoulders & your head) I hope you can see why.  Perhaps get in the lake in your 'natural colored' life jacket and have your picture taken from 200 or 300 yards away; especially if you fish big water.  Not a lot to see.  Understanding that rescue crews rarely have little more than an 'idea' of where you may be - they are going to have to see you to save you. Almost always requires quite a bit of searching - meanwhile you might be either freezing to death, bleeding to death, if no pfd, just flat out drowning or any number of life threatening & undesirable deals. Also brings to light the importance of filing an accurate float plan - meaning telling a responsible adult where you will be and when you will return. Because other than that PDF - the top of your head is all we can see; and it's a relatively tiny target. A-Jay This is excellent advice and I will take it next time I am on a boat. 2 Quote

A-Jay Never thought about that until now; however, it makes perfect sense. I will be replacing my life vests when I start fishing bigger lakes where being located becomes a factor! Thanks again for your service! 1 Quote

I'm guilty of wearing a natural colored PFD and I'll continue to wear it as it has become a favorite. However, being seen is foremost on my mind and I try to take steps to hopefully put the odds in my favor. I carry a panel marker on the kayak, but that is only good if I'm not separated from the yak. I also carry a water-activated strobe and signaling mirror (stored/attached) on the PFD along with two glow sticks, one red and one IR. 3 Quote

If I didn't have a bunch already I would have bought them. Quote

Didn't know it was actually a decent find till I googled it.  Nice score you got there....the first day of fishing last year, I found a whopper pobber on the side of the shore. Just a few cleaning with hook replacement. It's back in action. Quote

The originals had green on the bottom and were amazing for dirty/stained water. Personally, I was disappointed in the new color being solid black... The fish probably won't care. Quote

Hillbilly Bennett Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 These are all of the lures I picked up during the after Christmas sales at Cabela’s and Bass Pro. I should be reloaded and ready to go. Everything was bought with gift cards or on clearance. 4 Quote

rod snapper Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 My parents are getting annoyed with taking me to Cabela's twice a week to empty my bank count. feeling the heat, but that bait monkey induced me to try chatter-baits, and add to the jerk bait collection this week. 2 Quote

Super User Gundog Posted February 7, 2019 Super User Posted February 7, 2019 Made a few purchases because the deals were good, the funds were there and I felt like reminding myself that winter will end...eventually! I returned a gift from a family member to Dick's and they gave me store credit so I checked out their clearance section. BTW they had a sign on the door saying they were having a "Tent Sale" but there was no tent outside of the building. I questioned one of the lackies...um...I mean "Retail Specialist" about this and was told there is no tent outside. My response was "Yea, I can see that. That is the question. How can you have a "Tent Sale" with no tent?". I was then told the tent didn't make the trip. So I responded with "So this is more a metaphorical "Tent Sale" than an actual tent sale?". I then told them that they had real tents in the building, for sale and could just take one of those tents, put it up outside and then they would not have a metaphorical "Tent Sale" but an actual "Tent Sale". They just looked at me. Anyway, I bought some stuff. Here it is. Â 1 Quote

I picked these up at a fishing flea market and the craftmanship is second to none. These are the nicest crankbaits I have ever owned and while they are works of art I plan to fish them.  Allen Quote
