Dirtyeggroll Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Someone locally was selling a Curado 70 XG and a 7’ Veritas 2.0 M/F for $100 in perfect condition. I couldn’t pass it up. As soon as I handed over the money I dropped the reel in the parking lot and dinged it up!!! ? 1 1 Quote

Once at a tournament, I stepped on my favorite rod and broke the guide. I was like this ! 1 Quote

Reminded me when I got my brand new car and went to wipe some dust on the instrument cluster and scratched the clear plastic. 5 years later I till haven't forgiven myself for that. 1 Quote

I myself can’t afford much at all, so I usually just drool when going through this thread haha! Maybe someday I can build up a little more inventory and try new techniques. Until then, I make due with what I’ve got and just enjoy being on the water. Anyway, I saw that DSG has the brown craw colored 1/2oz Storm rockin shad lipless for $2.97 if anyone uses em! I haven’t seen any clearance here in WI either but I know what you mean. I bought a 100 dollar rod and felt like I mortgaged my house for it lol. I get a little jealous at everyone’s gear 4 Quote
Falkus Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Bought a vise and brass bobin at BPS for 25 bucks. Boy did this make my life so much easier ! Did some work on 4/0 Gamakatsu Finesse Wide Gap Hooks with the mono (40lbs). I know its not perfect but it will do for now. Just can't wait to pop those on their lips 4 Quote
Super User Gundog Posted March 5, 2018 Super User Posted March 5, 2018 Keep telling myself I'm not going to buy anymore lures and then I run across a local K-mart going out of business and.... The list is 3 packs of Craw Fatties, 3 packs of Deuces, 6 packs of Matzuo Wide Gap 4/0 hooks and a spool of 10 lb trilene mono for $28 bucks. Everything was over 60% off marked price. 5 Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted March 5, 2018 Super User Posted March 5, 2018 Had a hunch Sunday and my wife and I made a trip to walmart and glad I did. I was in need of either 10 or 20 lb fireline (use both but prefer 10) and they had the 20lb test on clearance for 7 bucks a spool so I grabbed all 4 and will just use a leader with it. Really glad I found the line, because for some reason TW is super expensive for fireline. Also grabbed 2 3500 size planos for 2 bucks on clearance. They also are carrying 5 packs of 3.75" rage swimmers in 3 colors for 4 bucks. It works out to be a penny more a bait then TW. I snagged a clear water color and a dirty water color too. 1 Quote

I bought a St. Croix Premier rod and still feel a little bit guilty that I didn't settle for the same power rated Ugly Stik with crooked guides. My wife still hasn't noticed the new rod in the corner of my study with my other 2. With luck, by the time she spots it, I can honestly say "Oh, that old thing... I've had it forever." Stopped in Walmart yesterday... no sign of any clearance there. Quote

I got a factory second Avid X for 100 bucks. The factory second rods I believe are at least half off when we were there. Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted March 5, 2018 Super User Posted March 5, 2018 I can't find any retailers near me who sell 6th sense, so I put in a small order to try out a couple items. With spring around the corner, I wanted some more craw patterns. The baits even came in a little re-usable 6th sense drawstring cloth baggie: 7 Quote

Dirtyeggroll Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Got a lot better at skipping jigs and caught some nice fish doing it last year with a cheap old 7’ Berkeley Pro Signature rod. Excited to see what I can do with my new 6’9” Tatula Elite Andy Montgomery Skipping rod! 10 Quote

Coonedawg Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 I stopped by my local Wal-Mart this morning and found a few boxes of heavily discounted lures. Found the 3 pack of Rebel Pop-rs for $3, War Eagle Finesse Spinnerbaits for $2, and Strike King 2 pk Spin Heads for $2 to name just a few. I walked out with all 7 War Eagle Spinnerbaits. I tried to upload a pic, but Ive had trouble doing that lately. 1 Quote

My fishing buddy caught his on on the 1/2 ounce version of the blugill pattern one. He broke it off later that day and searched for years to find another to stick in the mouth of the mount. Cool baits Quote

Just a little update on my new cranking combo. I received my Dobyns rod today! I took it out to a local pond. I was just having fun casting a squarebill (not into cover, shallow 1-2.5 ft water). Lews BB1 pro reel casts so smooth and is so awesome so far. I ended up not catching any bass but had a CARP ATTACK MY SQUAREBILL. I was burning it as fast as I could so I could keep tuning in my reel for casting distance...I ended up hooking 1 carp and saw another attack it. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen a carp do. 1 Quote
