Yup, I had to do it! Finally got around to it and gonna replace/retire some of my old workhorse green Curados with these. Should be fun!

The last 30+ books I've read have all been Louis L'Amour westerns so it'll be different reading a book where someone isn't shot...

Hi Mitt,

Semper Fi! Have you read Louie's "The Walking Drum" or "May there be a road". Sorry for the thread hijack guys. I'm a former marine who grew up cutting his reading teeth on Loius L'Amour. Had to share.

There’s such thing as a ‘former’ Marine?

I've read everything L'Amour ever wrote except for a couple of his short story anthologies.  Fun, mindless stuff. :)

Today I went above and beyond just tackle... and bought my fishing watercraft... finally gonna get off the bank:

I had to have something I could carry on top of the F-150 when towing the camper.  I've had more than 60 years of experience in a canoe, so it's the right craft for me.

I have not. A generally stick to his frontier stories only, and have only read a few short stories. So that excludes both you mentioned, unfortunately.

To Tame a Land, Kilkenny, and Hondo are the three I've probably read the most (multiple times each).

Went by Wally World in Minden Saturday and picked up a Plano 3600 lure box(as you can see I've done packed it with all my jigs, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits in it...lol) for $2.88 on clearance, also got some Spiderwire EZ Fluoro 100% fluorocarbon 8lb 200 yards for $5.00 on clearance(figured I'd try it as a leader for that price, I don't care for it really) and some Eagle Claw Laser 1/8oz brass bullet weights on clearance for $2.88. Then Sunday on my way home from Minden stopped by work and picked up my new 6'6" MHF Lew's Laser TXS Speed Stick and Spool baitcaster(had my eye on it since before I started working there), some 40lb Sufix 832(already spooled on my new Lew's Laser TXS), a pack of Zoom junebug Ol' Monsters and an H2O Express Ultimate Jerk Shad in ghost shad color. My Lord I've seen and stocked a ton of tackle and baits. It's like being a kid in a candy store...lol. It takes a ton of strength to keep from spending all my check there ? I'm hoping to get to go fishing in the morning. I'm off tomorrow. Really wanna cast my new rod and reel and catch me a big un. I'll settle for a dink. Still looking for my first bass of the year. Sorry this was kinda long. Tight lines everyone! ?

Keep your eye out for your local Wal-Mart clearance!!! Mine has inventory coming up in a week and they are clearancing tons of stuff. Just picked up 2 Berkley Lightning Rod Shock casting rods (1-7ft. MH and 1-6'6" M) for $9 each, they had all of their fishing baseball caps for $1 each so we got a ton of those. Got some Yum fish attractant in Shad and Crawfish scent for $1 each, a spool of Power Pro Super Slick 8 braid (65lb.) for $5. A bank umbrella/sun shade type thing for $13 and a 13x13 Ozark Trail instant up canopy for $15 (regular price of $88).

the bass pro spring fishing started today up here so i took advantage and got 5 bass pro planos which will likely be holding all of my soft plastics now. 4 spools of 832, 3 packs of snaps for building a swimbait box, 2 packs of speed shads, 2 warpigs, 1 pack of zoom trick worms and 1 pack of roboworms. I'm officially stocked for the season and my holidays are booked from opening weekend to july 8th

Stopped at F&S and DSG on the way home. F&S had the Duel baits on sale for $7.99 each which was cheap enough to want to try a couple. I’m a sucker for JDM stuff...

DSG had the 3 for 20 special on Brats/Ripstop/Shadow Raps.

The monkey is satisfied...for now

It's always a good day when you pay $55.50 for all this (29 items) Thankful for the Walmart clearance section.

Holy smokes that’s a good deal! At the three I’ve stopped at here in WI recently only had a couple things with little to no discount. Other than I snagged some (4 packs)of 7” black (I know it’s not a great color, but what the heck, why not!) Powerworms for $1 each, and after contacting Berkely, they are eligible for the rebate. So, I paid a touch over $4 and am getting $10 back! I might keep a pack or two and will pass the others along to someone that can use them. I don’t have barely any gear myself, but I try to forward as much as I can back on to someone else when in situations like this where it doesn’t cost me anything, as I can’t afford to do it outright. You guys on this site have been extensively generous in information and helping out other anglers including me, so I want to try to pass that along as much as I can! :D

A good deal indeed. I'm just now getting to the point where I have sightly too much soft plastics. However, I'm always looking for deals on hard baits.

Also, I think that you are extremely generous giving to others. In other news, I completely agree with you when you say that many people on this website have been generous with information. I just joined but I have used this website for information for years.

Most definitely! I myself can’t afford much at all, so I usually just drool when going through this thread haha! Maybe someday I can build up a little more inventory and try new techniques. Until then, I make due with what I’ve got and just enjoy being on the water.

Anyway, I saw that DSG has the brown craw colored 1/2oz Storm rockin shad lipless for $2.97 if anyone uses em!

Did that last year .....I bought like 12 rolls of Yo-Zuri line for like 3 bucks each.

Now, I need to refill them. They aren't carry it anymore :(

This year, I haven't seen any clearance at Walmart near my area.

I was kind of surprised by that.

I was at that point with plastics and I ended up finding some clear plastic containers with the double locking top at Costco. They are about the size of a shoe box and come in maybe a 5 pack.  I have about 4 of them filled by technique and just dip back in there when running low on the boat. This lets me buy in bulk and still keep everything organized.
