I told myself "no more baits/tackle until 4th of July Sales so I can buy a new rod" about two and half weeks ago.

Then the Father's day sales came.  I see overstock baits has had a couple new sales and are offering a first time custome/free shipping deal.  Heres what came next:

2x Lindy crappie dancer jigs

1x Uncle Josh floating trout pellets

1x GYCB 4 inch curly tail worm

3x Z-Man pitching craws

2x Booyah Hard Knockers

Then from the farmers market:

Lazer sharp treble hooks

8 roostertails and some beetle spins

Pack of Ned Rig heads (looks like somebody hand poued these)

2x KVD 1.5's

Some more zoom plastics

Ha! I was wondering the same thing myself when I saw it (it came like that).

Turns out it's a hook bonnet designed for feathered trebles, it goes on from the top! Pretty smart actually. It unfolds on one side so you can get it on

Interesting. I've always hated having the back hook on some of my feathered topwaters being free and covering the front.

I am googling like mad but am coming up with nothing.  I suppose there isnt a brand name on it somewhere?

The only hook bonnets I've found that I actually like are Owner Safety Caps, I wonder if you could modify those. Or better yet, I'm sure Owner would sell a bunch if they could design ones that would work with feathered trebles.

Picked up a pair of Whopper Plopper 130s and a Spro Bronzeye frog. After a couple outings with the Spro I think I'll stick with my Pad Crashers.

Try These "IUNEED Fishing Treble Hooks Safety Covers Bonnets safety Caps Protector 100 pcs", less than $4 with shipping for 100.  You can get them to fit some really small hooks by only locking in one side of the treble.  For really small fooks or feathers on topwaters split the side and put on from the top.  Very few hooks have I been unable to make fit.

What didn't you like about the spro? I've been looking to expand my collection a little, but there's no point in spending more if they aren't worth the extra money

Got 3 of the 4 replacement rods in.  The Legend Xtreme wont be here till mid July.  Broken Crucial replaced with a Zodias, Rage upgraded to the Avid X.

The girfriend also got me a Stradic FK for the Legend Tourney for my b-day! I'm one happy camper.

Unfortunate about the Crucial, but IMO you got a better rod.  Nice lineup!

The Zodias is way better for sure! I bought one around the time they came out and absolutely loved it. When Shimano said they were replacing my old Crucial with a Zodias, I was pretty stoked.

Story time lol: I ordered some Savage Gear Rats from overstock bait a few days ago, and yesterday I found that Cabela's had them on sale for even cheaper! So I emailed overstock to cancel the order so I could order from Cabela's for less. So this morning the refund went through and I get on Cabela's to check out.... aaaaaaand the sale was over... LOL so I shamefully got back on overstock and placed the order again. I should have just ordered the rats from cabela's right away I guess. Oh well, I'm mostly impressed with myself that I ordered TWICE from overstock and only got the stuff I was looking for, it was hard not to throw in a few cheap jigs and one knockers...

So anyways, I have a modification that I want to try on these rats, I'll make a new thread if it works the way I want it to :P sadly, since overstock is pretty slow to ship and I delayed it a few days by cancelling, it'll probably be at least a week

I bought an Avid X last night - 6'6" MH/F.  Primary use will be spinnerbaits.  I like to fish spinnerbaits sniper style, and prefer a little shorter rod.

St. Croix should give me a all expense paid tour to their facility.   Over the last three seasons I have bought 2 Mojo's, 1 LTB, 2 Avids, a Triumph, a Panfish, and now the Avid X.  Sounds like a lot, but I have been transitioning over the past few years from mostly fly fishing back to mostly conventional.

I'm set now.  Done.  Never need to buy another rod again.   ;)

Huddleston grass minnows arrived super quick! (People always complain about Huddleston shipping and customer service. I have to be honest, I have never had a problem.).
