Super User Columbia Craw Posted February 28, 2017 Super User Posted February 28, 2017 Dorado,  The far left lower two are the standard perch.  The top row center area are two translucent perch. The majority of the lower left are Columbia Craw or Goby. We have no goby out here but do a have bullhead so that color seems to work very well.  Doug 1 Quote
Mumbly Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 They say that persistence pays off and I guess that is true. Took me a bit but I tracked some more Xcalibur squarebills down at Academy. I didn't really want the Real Craw ones but I figured for $1.98 I could at least try repainting them if all else fails. Â Â 6 Quote
NorthwestBasser Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 It got me good, took my Brother in Law to my favorite local tackle shop, he always shops cabelas so I wanted to show him something cool and personal. I went in as a wingman, just to spend some time with him while he shopped around... walked out with a new 7'6" veritas 2.0 frog series rod, a 6" megabass magdraft, lunkerhunt katana, all black KVD sexy frog, and some dropshot weights and hooks of various styles and sizes. Oops! 2 Quote
mllrtm79 Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 (edited) I had managed to stay away from the monkey, but ended up running into him at Gander Mountain on Friday. Got out with only a three pack of florescent colored square bills from the clearance rack. Of course they went right onto the workbench at my gf's stepdad's shop to be repainted as sexy shad, hot mustard, and probably black back chartreuse. For $8 plus a bit of labor in the shop I'm happy (and the monkey is calm for a little while)Â Edited March 1, 2017 by mllrtm79 added photo Quote

I had the best luck with the smallest size 3. According to the rapala website that color has been out of stock for some time but I've found them on other websites. The first one I bought was on a whim at walmart. Edit: Yes I see that is not a square bill. This was my latest addition, 7'6" medium heavy/moderate. Should do quite well for deep divers and smaller swimbaits. 5 Quote

Super User lmbfisherman Posted March 3, 2017 Super User Posted March 3, 2017 So all this talk about Walmart deals I decided to hit 5 Walmarts near the Raleigh, NC area. Â They were all having clearance and in general a lot of them were cleaned out or had stuff I decided I didn't need. Â I did however found one Walmart with Gamakatsu 3/0 EWGs for .75 and found a Seaguar Red Label 6lb for 7 bucks. Â I bought 12 of the hooks (10 left) I decided I didn't need that many. Â 5 Quote

Super User buzzed bait Posted March 3, 2017 Super User Posted March 3, 2017 Finally snagged a MS mini slammer after a LOOOOOOOOOOONG wait and ultimately changed the color pattern i had ordered from the black to the bass just so that i could get one before 2020! Then i snagged a triple trout that's kind of a bone with some glitter flake in there. i've got one particular lake in mind that i can't wait to throw these on and see if they call in the donkeys!
