This year bigger swimbaits are going to be part of my game plan more than ever, so I'm filling in the gaps here and there. Few pick ups from the last week.

Also got Mike over at Delaware Valley Tackle going on a custom built Swimbait rod for me. I'll have to put up a pic of that, and the Conquest getting mounted on it, when they make it home. C'mon, Spring!!

Shane I sort of headed in the same direction as you, just on a slightly more modest scale. The Cardiff reel above is going to be my swimbait reel, need to decide on a pole. I'm thinking right now about the IROD Jr swimbait because it has a 17" handle and is 7'8" long, slightly shorter than most I've seen. The weight is 1-4 oz but I think  the biggest bait I have is a 7" MS Slammer and a couple of LS swwimbailts. Thinking about getting a rat. So I think this combo will work ok and think I will use 30 or 35 pound floro.maybe 60 braided, not sure yet.

Lucky you, it's about 8 degrees here in North East Pennsylvania. I don't think the ice is thick enough to go out on it but even if it were that's not for me. I think about 60 more days before splash time gets here.

It's 88 here. Socal got hyped for this crazy El Nino storm season, people buying sandbags and boarding up their windows and s**t. We got spit on for three days and now it's summer. Not complaining, it could be 8 degrees - but some steady rain would be nice. Our lakes will be sandboxes before long, some of them already are!

Are those punch weights under the rage tails in your picture?

Put in my order for a Curado 70 XG and a Scorpion 70 HG this morning :D Hoping the Scorpion gets here before the Classic but I know the Curado won't get here before then. Always wanted to own a Scorpion, excited to finally make it happen.

thinkin of pre-ordering a scorpion as well. especially since the price is a bit less if pre ordered

I ordered a GLX 852s jwr from Monster Fishing Tackle this weekend. It is the 6th rod I bought since Black Friday. Please someone stop me ;)

Few things at Angler's Headquarters. Eco Pro tungsten was 55% off (deal of the day) and the hooks were 50% off. They also threw in the trick worms for free since I shared their post on my FB page.

Recent haul. Making up for the last two "sober" years where I didn't get anything but the necessities - line, hooks, and weights.

Doing a reorg for a lot of my baits so picked up some new boxes - one of which is a 3700 Bait Coffin that'll store most of my terminal tackle (I might end up with one more). Love that box so far, feels so nice and solid compared to my old beaten up Planos.

Got the Lew's Super Duty 8:1 specifically to handle my topwater/frogging with heavier braid. My Curado and Revo SX don't seem to like it after a long day. Actually almost hit the 'buy' button on a Revo Rocket, but couldn't bring myself to spend that much...luckily

Overall it's about 1/3 of what I have on the list for this season. 1 more reel will be coming soon, 2 rods, jigs, spinnerbaits, a few frogs (if there is anything I don't need more of, its friggin frogs), buzzbaits, and more plastics.

Nice reel, I'll be ordering the Super Duty next week, and use it for the slop punching, and bring with me when I go south to do some Inshore fishing.

Went to BPS in Columbia MO Saturday evening to see if they had any deals. Wound up grabbing some flukes and Powerbaits worms and craws and some Paca craws. There's a rebate that allows you to get 5 bags of Powerbait plastics for $1.75 each which I took advantage of.

And last week I took advantage of a great deal offered by a fellow forum member on this Daiwa T3 MX 7.1:1 reel. My first JDM reel, and I'm pretty excited about pairing it up and using it. Planning on spooling up with 15 lb. fluoro and using it as my jig setup. I'm trying to decide what rod to pair it with, thinking about a Daiwa Zillion or Tatula, in keeping with the Daiwa JDM aesthetic. Recommendations?

I love the subtle patterns of the Zaion frame!

Was that the T3 MX member "Tim S" sold? They are great reels with very nice features. What did you want to use the reel for? There are several nice rods that would like nice wirh it.

Yep, Tim S. sold it to me. Great transaction and he shipped it super fast.

I plan to use it for jigs primariily so I'm thinking fluorocarbon and a MH F rod.

Tim is a good dude! The T3 platforms excels with braided lines though they will fish just fine with any line. I use braid on one and flourocarbon on the other. One is currently without a rod but it will likely get a custom build. That 3d breaking is pretty nice with all external adjustments.

I beat that bait monkey around the block again today! Scored a really nice deal at a local pawn shop...

Shimano TMS-X70MH (Teramar Inshore rod)
St.Croix PS66MHF (premier rod)
Shimano Stradic 2500FH
Shimano Stradic 4000FH

I got all of the above for $50.00 out the door!

And when I get done selling some of the gear I don't want, it will actually look like the pawn shop paid me to walk out the door with this stuff!

But I thought $50 for all of it was a good deal. I looked up the shimano rod and there is one on ebay right now for $120 and the St. Croix rod is listed for $80, the stradics are a couple hundred for both. Not too bad of a deal-day randomly stopping at pawn shops as I drove errands.

I got a kick out of one pawn shop that had one Berkley lightning rod marked incorrectly as a Bill Dance signature rod for $59.99 while I just got the good stuff for much less.

I just sweetened up the above deal to even better!

Not only did I get a great deal on two Shimano Stadic reels and 2 nice rods for $50, but I went back to that same pawn shop and bought two more rod and reel combos they had on sale for $60. One rod was a Berkely emotion and the other was a Berkley shock rod, each rod had a right hand Abu Garcia Ambassadeur reel on it.

So I spent a total of $110 for 4 rods and 4 reels.

I immediately overhauled all 4 reels to like new smooth working condition, and I put the two RH abu's up for sale on ebay. Both just sold for $53 and $52 for a total of $105! I paid $110 for everything.

So I now acquired a $125 shimano rod, a $100 St. Croix rod, and a Berkley Emotion rod $80, and a Berkley Shock rod $40, plus 2 shimano stradic reels retailing at $250 for both, and all of it cost me a whopping $5.00 plus gas to and from the pawn shop.

Close to $600 worth of equipment for less than $10.00! Here are the rebuilt reels I just sold on ebay that paid for everything:

A sweet deal made even sweeter!
