Hey guys, been a while.

So I just bought a new muskie rod, it's my newest addiction. I'm also going to be fishing a highland reservoir this spring, aka A-rigs and Jerkbaits. I have nothing heavy enough to use with A-rigs, except the muskie rod. Good idea?

It's a St Croix Premier, 8'6" MH, with a Revo NaCl 5.4:1 with 80lb braid.

You're sensitivity will probably suffer a bit but that's not usually a big issue when trying to feel A rig strikes.

I will be interested to hear how you like the set-up. There will be no

issue drifting or trolling, but casting may be challenging. Good luck

and report back!

It think it'll work just fine for A-Rigs. Shouldn't have any problems casting as the A-rig wouldn't be any different weight than a musky plug you'd be throwing with it.

It should be fine, though a little long for my taste.

It should handle it fine. I've thrown a 9 footer with a handle as big as a baseball bat for musky and it bombs those heavy lures out there.

Cool, I figured as long as the rig is heavy enough it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks guys.
