Green Trout Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Thinking about switching to Flurocaron. I fish around some cover but it is not extremely thick. I would use the flurcocatbon for Flukes and Texas Rigged worms. What lb test is best for this type of fishing? Does a bait have better action on lighter line? Also, what brand do you like and why? Stingray23 Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 The lighter the line, the better the action, especially for flukes. I fish fluoro for my fluke set-up. I use 8lb fluoro for my spinning set-up. If you're concerned about cover, maybe braid with a fluoro leader will be better for you. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 16, 2014 Global Moderator Posted November 16, 2014 If you're going to fish both those type baits on the same rod I'd probably go with something like 14/15 pound. I use Sunline Super Fluoro because it's strong but pretty easy to fish with and affordable. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 16, 2014 Super User Posted November 16, 2014 Tastsu #8 for spinning tackle, #20 on baitcasters. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted November 16, 2014 Super User Posted November 16, 2014 No need for anything heavier than 15# as the manageability issues will follow. I use 12# on casting gear mostly and have rarely felt undergunned around wood, rocks, or weeds. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted November 16, 2014 Super User Posted November 16, 2014 12lb Invisix and Trilene 100% FC are my favorites so far. I also using some 8lb 100% FC for finesse fishing on a baitcasting set up and no issues so far. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted November 16, 2014 Super User Posted November 16, 2014 Spinning or baitcast? For spinning would not go above 10lb Invizx on reels up to 2500 size. If baitcast, for the situation you describe I would choose either 12lb or 15lb Abrazx Quote
