Hey Guys,

What is it that you guys do to clean up this inside of your reels before you then oil and lube the moving parts?

Also, generally speaking, what is it that you guys make sure to hit when oiling and lubing?

I am about to start taking apart my reels and cleaning and re-oiling and re-lubing the moving parts for them to sit during the winter.

Keep a schematic at hand too.

I found TackleJunky81's video guides on YouTube very informative and helpful. He has a ton of great tips and really goes in depth on the cleaning. Also, he demonstrates on a Bass Pro Shops reel, but I was able to follow along on my Quantum reel pretty easily.

Here's a link to his reel maintenance/upgrade playlist on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLbuPgIHYhs051QVzARStn0xyad9YA3Jg

The video I'd start with is

Take pictures as you remove parts so you can reassemble properly.

Thanks for the answers guys,

I have cleaned and lubed my reels for the past year now in order to service them, however I wanted to make sure that I was doing it the right way.

And yes, I do use a schematic and even follow a video of the reel being taken apart and cleaned and lubed if possible. I also do make sure to take a bunch of pictures while disassembling and also even taking video if needed.

Good to hear(well read) that I am doing things properly.
