Best,cheapest G.loomis

never fished a g.loomis but I've heard they're bang for the buck sucks.my buddy fishes them&he says you really pay for the name.whats the cheapest series in yalls opinion that the g.loomis brand really starts to shine? i'm happy with my powells but just wondering.

Buy'em used and your bang for the buck is excellent! I am content with the IMX's. I have some GLX's and a couple of NRX's but I could be content with the old style IMX's.

Best cheapest doesn't work. Most quality rod manufactures have a good quality product at the high end but offer a low end to compete with others. The low end stuff of good name rod manufactures usually suffers. You can buy better elsewhere. G loomis has always been imx and above for good quality. The lower end stuff was and is overpriced for what you get.

St croix is the same. Avid & above is the good stuff. The lines below not so much. The big guys with quality reputations have to compete with others. They offer lower end lines often built off shore to compete with others. People buy the name not knowing where the quality starts. I don't condemn manufactures from doing this as they have to compete to stay in business. But knowing what is the best buy for the dollar spent is important for me.

Not sure what you're asking but I will tell you this about G. Loomis rods. I used to live in WA state and am old enough to have fished their factory rods from the 80's and 90's. The original G. Loomis MBR and SJR rods in both IMX and GLX with the Wiebe reel seats had no equal. And if Loomis were still using those reel seats, I dare say there are no better rods made than the MBR842, 843, 844, and SJR782 and 843 in GLX. Worth every penny.

Yep, IMX and above.. Check with American Legacy, they usually have a a good selection of used rods. Also they have a great sale on the Icast display rods.

I just got an IMX mag bass to throw everything from lipless to spoons to chatters and everything in between.I was gonna get a gl2 at first but my hand gripping style and overall fishign style didnt agree with the gl2's setup. The IMX is a dream, full quality cork handle, sensitive, lgiht and well balanced. The IMX is the starting point for true loomis quality everythig below IMX doesnt differ much from every other manufacturers lower quality rods they just blend in. IMX to infinity and beyond.

If you buy an old model, the IMX is pretty good. If you're looking at the current lineup, I wouldn't fish anything less than the GLX, if you're looking for any bang for the buck.
