Well being Fairly new to bass fishing only bout two years this year I picked up ribbon tail worms and lipless crankbaits and I've caught a lot of good fish on them. Also I caught my first spinnerbait bass and top water bass this year and I'm starting to figure the bass out on my local 37 acre lake. I really look forward to next year and put what I've learned to the test to find the monsters in the lake. I've pitched jigs a bunch but no takers so hopefully next year I can pull the big girls with them. Tight lines!

KVD squarebill crankbaits;1/16 oz owner wacky jighead with zoom finesse worms, jackall flick shakes, senkos, yum dingers; 3/8 oz jigs with rage tail chunks, paca chunks, wacky rigged yum dingers or blackwater t floater worms; swimmin caffeine shad rigged on owner weighted cps hooks...that's what worked for me.  There were a few more but that was the bulk of what I caught most of my fish on in 2014.

Spinnerbaits and trickworms killed it for me this year!  Caught my biggest on a creature bait.  Just happened to start raining and was messing around and tried it and BAM!!

Strike King Rage Blade....definitely a big fish lure

Hildebrandt Okeechobee Special Spinnerbait...they love that oversized blade.

Red Eye Shad in a now discontinued color that shall remain nameless... ^_^

I caught the most big fish on 3/8 or 1/2 oz jigs with 4" Pit Boss trailers.

I caught the greatest numbers of fish on wacky-rigged 5" Senkos.

I had the most fun catching fish on ScumFrogs.

As far as specific hard baits, I did very well with the Bill Norman N and Big N in bull bream color, the Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap in Chartruese Crawfish, and chatter baits.

Tight lines,

Bob

I like and fish Zoom plastics a lot and this year picked up a few bags of Magnum finesse worms. I can't say enough good things about that worm. Black was the best producer but Houdini was durn good in certain conditions.

for me it would have to be the lunk3rhunt frog. My biggest fish was caught on it and it's the most fun. Now I am using lipless crank baits like the Strike King Red Eye Shad and they have produced some Giants for me and my buddies.

Buzz baits. Over the years I have fished them maybe once or twice a year, but only until I thought of another bait to use. This year I decided I was going to fish the bait correctly, and it paid off. Now I will be using them right along side my frog.

Not my best lures by any means but the Hudd Shad and Hudd Minnow do work .. no lunkers on them cause theyre a bit smaller but they catch

For me it was the summer of the gunfish. I didn't really want to plunk down the money for one but was able to find a few used for pretty cheap. Man are they the bomb. Got some of my most violent strike off them. Even if they miss the fish seem to come back and get it. Great bait.

Agreed! No monsters in them yet and I'm still learning to use swimmers of that type but both are really cool for creeping along the bottom. Def a nice approach to have in weeded areas and low current rivers too!

I finally caught some fish on a swim jig. I've been fishing 3/8 and 1/2 ounce sizes and had yet to get a strike. I got some 3/0 hooks that I'd hoped would fit my shakyhead mold but turned out to be too thick. What they did fit nicely was my 1/4oz swim jig head, so I poured some and gave them a try. That light head with a twin tail grub produced good numbers of fish for me, especially around water willows.

Also had some good success with a Duo Realis popper 64.

I had success with a magnum trick worm with the tail dipped in JJ's Magic on a shaky head. I actually had luck with a lot of stuff that I dipped. It was my first year using JJ's Magic and I'm sold.

Zoom Trick Worm.  Once I discovered them I had fun rigging them on a split shot and using them bank fishing and kayak fishing.  Cheap and you get a lot of them in a bag.

New baits that performed well for me ....

Strike King Rage Structure bug - texas rig with a 3/8 or 1/2 oz tungsten weight has been catching quality fish

Heavy Grass jigs with a Rage Craw trailer - 1 to 1-1/2 oz , throwing in the grass or sandgrass off the main weed line for reaction bites. I like both the SK Hack Attack jig and Dirty Jigs No Jack Punchin' jigs. 50 lb braid & flipping stick

Weedless Huddleston Shad- great change of pace to swimming RI Skinny Dippers in the grass

Duo Realis Lipless crankbait - excels for rippin' retrieves

10" Big Bite Bait Kriet tail worms - bulkier than the Berkley power worms and seems to attract bigger bites

Eco Pro Tungsten buzzbaits - very loud and unique sound, hook is on the small side so I recommend that you add a trailer. Rediscovered buzz baits this year
