OroBass Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 A local shop is clearing out a bunch of inventory. I dont want to get ripped off. The rods are batson rainshadows. Nice cork grips. They seem really nice. Just looking for feedback on purchasing handmade tackle. Please no obvious statements. I dont mean to be rude but theres been alot of that. Thanks guys. 1 Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted November 13, 2014 Super User Posted November 13, 2014 Depends on the series. Batson blanks range from $12 for some rx6 models to $100 and up for some of the RX8+ models. 1 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Right, then there's the rest of the components and overall build quality to consider. Basically shop the same way you would for an unfamiliar brand. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 13, 2014 Super User Posted November 13, 2014 Please no obvious statements. You put this in the wrong forum. 1 Quote
Hogsticker Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Are the labels on the blanks? Does the person selling them know the person building them? Lots of unknowns to be able to adequately answer your question. If he does, ask what kind of guides are on the rod. After that if it reels good I say go for it if the price is right. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted November 14, 2014 Super User Posted November 14, 2014 I have an RX8 XMB843-TC and a Rainshadow RX7 IMB843. I like both. The Rainshadow is the prettiest with red trim, so I put my Zillion 50th Anniversary on it. Nice! Great feedback with a 3/8 oz. spinnerbait with Colorado blades. Can feel the vibration from the very start of the retrieve. Something I can't say about a lot of my other rods. Quote
