There are a lot of choices when it comes to airbrushes. You might want to check out Dixie Art http://dixieart.com/Dixie_Art_Supplies_Airbrush_Main_Page.html. I have Paasche single action and Badger double actions. I prefer the single actions myself but for what I am doing I don't really need all of the features of a d/a airbrush. I haven't started painting lures yet though. Everything I do is scale models.

As for the pait, the paint you are using now should work you will need to thin it with a compatible thinner. You want a consistecy that is similar to milk. You will need to do some experimenting to get it exact but once you get it you should be good to go with that brand of paint and thinner. I usually jot down some notes once I get the paint just right.

I would also suggest buying a compressor. Those disposable cans of "air" are a real pain in the butt and the pressure drops rapidly.

Another great site is www.airbrushdepot.com I got my compressor there and the prices are had to beat. I also second the single action ari brush motion, it is alot easier to use on a simple paint project.

I'm going to disagree with the fellas above (just a little) the web sites they gave a top notch, but don't go cheap on your brush and paint.  A good quality gravity feed double action brush is what you want for baits.  I only use Iwata brushes and wildlife colors taxidermy paint, imho the best products for what we do.  I started with Iwata brushes and cannot give you a comparision to any other products.  I've tried every water based paint on the market, wildlife colors is the easiest to use, never needs thinning.

The Dual Action is the way to go.  The difference is, with a single action brush you need two hands to operate (one hand for the air, the other  for paint flow) the dual action is a one handed operation. The S/A is good for large un-detailed areas, I was a commercial Fish Taxidermist for 5 years and quickly discarded my S/A airbrush.  The D/A will allow you to do extremely detailed painting very quickly. I think the Paasche VL is the best brush for the money.

Shop for WILDLIFE paint at www.smithpaints.com

Better pait VS other paint like createx. Smiths can custom make paint also.  I'm just lucky enough to live near them. They make the wildlife paint. Its made especially for airbrushing.

A friend of mine got her airbrush set at Michaels crafts.  Their circulars in the papers often give a 40% coupon off the purchase of a single item.  She used it and got 40% off her kit.  There are a few Michaels in toledo.

kb here   if you are serious about making and painting lures   dont waste your money on a cheap air brush or a single action  brush.  i know from experiance that you want the best paint job you can get and that is with a iwata dual action brush  you wont be sorry   but if not you will have a drawer full of old airbrushes.  if you buy a good airbrush to start and find out later you dont like to air brush you will have no problem selling a good iwata brush
