Weld's Largemouth Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Can somebody give me an overview of what months each bass phase occur down in South Florida, i.e. spawn, prespawn, etc. I'm going down in December and I'm wondering what phase they'll be in. Thanks Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted November 13, 2014 Super User Posted November 13, 2014 In December they'll probably be spawning. Generally speaking you'll see groups of fish spawning at different times. The weather can trigger a spawn pretty quickly. I wouldn't be surprised if people start seeing beds in the next couple of weeks. For the most part there is only one season down here....fishing season. 2 Quote

I don't fish any different for bass in December than any other month. If I'm not mistaken most of your fishing will be from shore, work flukes, lizards and senkos along canal shorelines, you may have a bit more flexibility to use lures on ponds if the water isn't too low. You may want to try a Gambler big EZ. 1 Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted November 13, 2014 Super User Posted November 13, 2014 I saw bass spawning this past Sunday, in one of my local canals. We just a came out of a tiny cold front in conjuction with the full moon. It was pretty neat, you could see the male rubbing along the female to drop her eggs. 1 Quote
Super User geo g Posted November 16, 2014 Super User Posted November 16, 2014 A spawn usually occurs several times during a calendar year. When conditions are right they will spawn regardless of the month. They don't care about months they care about conditions. Probably the most important condition is water levels. When the levels drop the fish become concentrated or they die. This is when a 200 fish day is a real possibility. This happens from late Feb. thru early May. Depending on weather conditions. Quote
