Ever since I got my first speed spool have always wanted to get a higher end lew's to see what they are like. I will most likely be throwing jigs with it and kinda want a centrifugal brake. My choices are

>LFS Speed spool-Aluminum frame, 7 ounces, magnetic brake $99

>Tournament MB-Aluminum frame, 6.7 ounces, both brakes $140

>Tournament SS-Aluminum frame, 7.9 ounces  both brakes $150 (120 with rebate)

>Tournament MB-Aluminum frame, 7.9 ounces, Magnetic $130 (100 with rebate)

Kinda don't want to stray too far from this price point.

Get the tournament ss. I don't have one, but the rebate is tough to beat and 35 out of 35 positive reviews on TW (yes I counted them):) sounds great! I do have an lfs tho its a great reel for the money but if u can get the tournament for $20 more w/ rebate its worth it. Just my .02.

I have the speed spool with the magnetic brakes that has been great for spinnerbaits and bladed jigs. I haven't used it for regular jigs but I'd have no issues with doing so if need be.

Check out Gander Mnt, and see if they have them on sale. Just received my Tournement MG. An $130 reel,  got it on sale for $99, and with the rebate $69. Plus no shipping and no tax. You just can't beat it.

Spend a couple more bucks and find a Tournament Pro for 150.

You mean a couple of more tens. :wink2:

I've used the regular speed spool with magnetic brakes and it was worked for jigs. Great, strong drag.

Tournament MB, the 6.7 ounce model, is the one in getting for throwing jigs/plastics. There all good reel, but that is a reel that can throw weights all over the spectrum.

I have two of the Tournament Pros and really like the dual braking system.  I would choose the Tournament MB.  I think the Tournament Pro might be the best buy in the Lew's lineup and would save a little longer to get that one.  You can find them on eBay for about $150.

Tight lines,
