Super User Dwight Hottle Posted November 13, 2014 Super User Posted November 13, 2014 Nice Dwight. I had a pretty nice day on Erie this spring in what is shallow water by Erie perch standards. I was trying to catch some late spring, early summer smallmouth and got smallies and big perch fishing smallie tactics. Fun. That's exactly what we experienced several times this spring. The perch were scattered chasing down schools of emeralds in 20-30 fow. The crazy part of it was the perch were hitting full sized smithwick rogues 6" model deep divers. Quote
desmobob Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Bill, I've got a pretty good shot of you (I think Rob J took it that day) from many moons ago. That was a fun day!! That's a beautiful stringer of perch! Years ago, I was in a bait shop in maybe Schroon Lake, NY? and they had a stringer of really huge yellow perch hanging on the wall that some taxidermist did an excellent job on. I've caught some whoppers in Lake George over the years while fishing for smallies. Tight lines, Bob Quote
Catch 22 Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 I get a lot of them on a LC 78. I tie a 1/8 jig,avocado/with a spritz of orange and do well with it. They eat a large variety of lures including silver buddies. C22 Quote

It was just wild. Myself and another fellow were in my boat. I don't recall whether we called to the rear guard by radio or if Noel and our other buddies simply stumbled onto us and saw the bent rods but it was a banner day, one that I'll likely never forget. guitarglynn1 Posted November 16, 2014 Author Posted November 16, 2014 Here are some more. That cold front hit and it snowed here and it was cold this morning! about 25 degrees and some wind. But I bundled up real good and the yellows didn't seem to mind so I did not mind either :-) Quote
