dampeoples Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 I really think this is a question for you to answer, as I'm not privy to your financial situation. Although, if you can cut your own molds, I think the answer is clear. Quote
lurelosingfishrman Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 the money really isn't a prob. but it could be if my wife found out about it lol. just wondering what yall thought or if any of yall have made your own i would really like to experiment but where to start at the bottom like plaster, plastic,my own and i guess if i don't like my own i would go with the del mare. how do you make your own out of plaster i read a couple articels but didn't make any sense to me have any tips on that then i need to fig. out the rest i read some of your post on past pours and that helped alot with what seems to be a good recipe. but where to buy the plastics and dye's and hardners, softners sents and so on. i just want help Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted May 25, 2007 Super User Posted May 25, 2007 I make my molds out of BONDO. PM GMAN, I am pretty sure he has made some plaster molds. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Plaster molds are nice for smooth baits but if you try to make a plaster mold out of a ribbed bait it will turn pretty much smooth or somewhat from the epoxy you have to apply. I havent tried bondo like Jigman does but that might be better and get more detail. When you add the epoxy to the plaster it will remove details in ribbed/complex baits. Honestly in a stick bait I believe aluminum is by far the way to go. Its just how you value your time. I'm no computer programer but I bet that would take forever to program. I'd rather just search ebay/Tu tackle trade and find one a little cheaper then new. Quote
lurelosingfishrman Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 i asked my dad about how long or time conuming it would be to make those molds he said it shouldn't be a prob. all you have to do is scan them on with a rotarey scanner. but i am really intrest. in how you make your molds out of bondo ?? Siebert Outdoors Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 if you have a rotary scanner I wouldnt waste my time with bondo, plaster or anything else. I'd make them all al Quote
