UKCats55 Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Hey guys, I have always used monofilament but I am wanting to make the switch (for the proper presentations) to braid or fluorocarbon. What are some opinions on the best products as well as when to use each? I like the Berkley brand, and will be using it on Berkley Lightning Shock rods. Thanks for the help!! Quote
OroBass Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 I like power pro braid and seagar red label floro. They are affordable and get the job done! 3 Quote
DFrench97 Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 I like Power Pro for braid and Yo-Zuri Hybrid which is nylon and fluoro bonded together. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 11, 2014 Global Moderator Posted November 11, 2014 Don't go cheap on braid (either if you can afford it). Sufix 832 is the way to go and just be done with it. Fluoro you can get away with going a little cheaper if you don't mind it being a little stiffer or less abrasion resistant. I've had very good luck with the Sunline Super Fluorocarbon. 2 Quote

Super User Darren. Posted November 11, 2014 Super User Posted November 11, 2014 There are many opinions on braid brands, so do your research and choose carefully because braid isn't cheap. Our opinions here are just that, opinions. Opinions based on experiences. Not all the same. Over the years I've tried several brands and keep returning to regular Power Pro (yellow). That's my preference. Others don't like Power Pro and prefer Sufix 832, or Daiwa Samurai, etc. You probably can't go wrong with any of them. And since you are just starting out with braid, you may stick with the first brand you try. Also, for me, I always tie on a leader be it pure fluorocarbon or a copoly line. 1 Quote
hatrix Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 832 and power pro or power pro super slick are all solid choices. The suffix cost a couple bucks more but braid lasts for ever basically. 1 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 11, 2014 Super User Posted November 11, 2014 I have been VERY impressed with TUF-LINE Tournament 8. http://www.tuf-line.com/products_TUF-Lines_26.html 1 Quote
MO_LMB Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Call me old fashioned, but I try to avoid Braid at all costs. If i have to, I found i like power pro. 1 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted November 11, 2014 Super User Posted November 11, 2014 My vote goes to Suffix 832 for braid. Or if you're willing to spend a little extra, Seaguar Smackdown is really nice stuff for an extra $10. As for fluoro, I'm a fan of Sunline Sniper FC. 1 Quote
