I.rar Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Noticed my curado 51 felt loose in my Fenwick smallmouth rod while fighting my largest fish to date today. It almost felt like it was going to come out which definitely would of sucked but it stayed put. No issues while casting. Has anyone noticed this with their Fenwick rods? Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted November 8, 2014 Super User Posted November 8, 2014 I use the same reel on my 6'10" MF with no problem. Mounted a Chronarch 101A on a 6'9" M-XF and couldn't tighten it down enough to keep the reel from wobbling. No problem with a couple other reels I tried on the rod. Quote
Cgrinder Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Yes, I had that exact issue with Shimano seats in an Elite Tech. Quote
thehooligan Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I've also heard the casting model reelseats have issues tightening down. One reason I stayed away and only use the spinning model. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted November 8, 2014 Super User Posted November 8, 2014 Has anyone noticed this with their Fenwick rods? Yes, a small strip of J&J adhesive bandage tape on each end of the reel's foot fixed the problem. oe 1 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Neither reel feet or seats are universal. A little shimming here or there is common and won't hurt anything. 1 Quote
I.rar Posted November 8, 2014 Author Posted November 8, 2014 Thanks guys! I'll try the bandage tape and go from there. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted November 8, 2014 Super User Posted November 8, 2014 Yes..... I had 51E's on mine and it drove me nuts. I now have Daiwa Lexa's on my ET smallmouth rods and they don't move at all Quote
