Who makes the clostest mold to a Senko and can I save money by pouring my own.

it depends on how many senkos you use.  The initial investment into plastics is high.  Especially the aluminum molds 2 piece.  for the price of the kit you can buy about 20 bags of senkos.  So its really a judgement call.

Delmart offers a kit for around 110 dollars.  You could probably pour enough senkos to balance out the cost of a bags of senkos to the price of the kit.  

I've been pouring quite a bit and the senko recipe is one of the hardest to get right because of the amount of salt needed to softner ratio.  You will use alot of material expirementing to get the lure the way you want it.

I think Bob makes the closest, and you can eventually save money by pouring your own.

I think that it's hard to actually save money, but I also think that it's more of a thing where you can have more colors, drop rates, and feel better catching fish on something that you have made.  Hobby's always cost money, sometimes you can get it back... but think about it this way too, people pay money to make all sorts of crafts and this is no different.

if your goal is strictly to save money i doubt you will find that it is worth your time.  i thought id save a fortune doing it myself and im sure i have saved some but when you figure in your time and expenses it is not worth it imo to save money.

it is however a lot of fun and well worth it.  i have a del mold and am very pleased with it.  i also have some cheap plastic lurecraft tube type molds that are a pain in the butt for senkos but i can make some 6 inch ones while im at it.  i dont use many six inch senkos so it works out, although i had to do some serious modification to get it to work right.  these are cheap but you can only pour one bait at a time.

Del-Mart or Bob's makes senkos almost identacle to yamamoto. I got 2 Del Stick molds that I've been using for a while, and you can't pour a bad lure with 'em! As far as saving money, in the long run you can probably save some money, but you will spend alot of money on all the molds, colors, glitter, salt, additives and such when first starting up. I've been pouring for only about 3 months now, and I know I have spent ALOT of money. But its a great hobby to have.

When you pour them, do you want to fill it up over the inlet hole, and trim them all down, or do you just try to fill it up as close to possible on the mold?

The hot plastic will contract as it cools, so you overfill the mold, and it pulls the excess into the mold. When you demold them, just snip the sprue off, and rock on.

Yea I was delayed on pouring the past week cause of a burn I got on my hand because I forgot to put my glove on when stirring after the pour, it splashed up and put a pretty nice blister across my hand.. but today I got out the pots and started pouring, also tried out my new fluke mold from Del.   When pouring always remember, your dealing with 350 degree melted plastic here, it will give you some pretty bad burns! Wear gloves when stirring!
