Ghostshad Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 When i first started Bass Fishing i was using a 6'' Zoom lizard,as the years passed i went to a Zoom baby brush hog to a Strike King Rage craw. Color was and still is watermelon candy i love that color its my #1 go to color..My question is which one of the 3 is your go to bait.I also have bought the Space Monkey, but i have bad knee's so i've not been in a year and a half i hope to change that in a couple weeks i'm getting shots in my knee's so pray for me. God Bless And Thanks Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted November 3, 2014 Super User Posted November 3, 2014 I fish the brush hog. Watermelon red flake is my go too color. Before the brush hog my #1 was the Yum Zellamander, which they quit making. (still a little ticked over that) Their replacement was the salamander that had swim balls on its legs and tail. No where near the same amount of bites on my waters. Good luck with the knee! Hope they can get you fixed up and fishing again soon! Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 3, 2014 Super User Posted November 3, 2014 Which one is my goto? Add me a worm & you'll have my goto Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted November 3, 2014 Super User Posted November 3, 2014 Out of all the baits you listed I'd order them like this 1. rage craw 2. Space monkey 3.Brush hog 4. Zoom lizard But they all have their place and are all great lures! Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted November 3, 2014 Super User Posted November 3, 2014 My two are the 6" zoom lizard and the Rage Craw! Rage Craw is #1 cuz I can use it as a jig trailer big bass love em Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted November 3, 2014 Super User Posted November 3, 2014 Good luck with those knees!! I still like Zoom lizards in the spring, but never really think to pull them out the rest of the year. I guess, to me, they seem to be a numbers bait, but not many big ones. Quote
*Hank Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Yamamoto makes great lizards but zoom would be my second choice. Quote
War Eagle 44 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 The Baby Brush Hog (green pumpkin) easily wins in my boat. Next would be the 6" lizard, also green pumpkin. Then the Space Monkey and lastly the Rage Craw. I know tons of guys rave about the Rage Craw but it just isn't effective for me except used as a jig trailer. The Baby Brush Hog is one of my all time favorite soft plastics and has caught me more fish than the other 3 combined. I've caught my far share on the 6" Lizard as well though. I always, 100% of the time, dye the tails on the brush hog and the lizard with Spike It chartreuse dip. I'm convinced it makes a really big difference. 1 Quote
bassguytom Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Brush hog in green pumpkin is my favorite out of those 4. I tried a rage rig a lot this year and caught nothing on it. Quote
MikeinFresno Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I use all of those and this year added the Elaztech lizards, man do they last and are super soft too Quote
boostr Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 For me the Rage Chunk, and the Space Monkey has worked. Haven't tried the Zoom lizards yet, but what I've seen and read is that they are more of a Spring - early summer bait. Well give them a try next year. The Space Monkey had also worked for me in the Spring, and early summer in Green Pumpkin Red Flake, Rage Chunks in Black/Blue Flake or Blue Craw. Quote
doyle8218 Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I like all 3 but not any of my goto's. Quote
jigfisher Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 I catch fish in one lake here in Pa that's full of grass on lizards year round. Most use it only as a spawning bait or c-rig but for some reason these fish will eat them anytime. I throw 6-10 inch usually in gp but cherry seed and red seems to be good too. Its not my go to bait anywhere else. The space monkey is a good bait but the smokin rooster is even better around grass for me. As for craws, the syrike kings are great but don't last long. I get hand pours that stand up way better. I use them to locate fish and when I get on them I like to pull out the Paul Krew custom pours. Hands down the best I've ever used. They fkat catch them Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted November 9, 2014 Super User Posted November 9, 2014 My favorite lizards are the zoom and rage ones. For hawgs, the rage hawg is best, but I like the baby brush hog for a smaller profile and the full sized one for a bigger bait. Space monkeys are one of the best pitchin' creature baits out there. riverbasser13 Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 I have some Zoom lizards that I like but for whatever reason aren't a first choice plastic for me. But after reading this thread I think they might work in the deep grassy parts of the ponds I fish in, thanks for the idea Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 11, 2014 Global Moderator Posted November 11, 2014 I've gone to brush hog style baits over lizards. I like them better and the fish don't seem to mind them either. Quote
Brock Grigsby67 Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 I like fishing zoom lizards in the spring. But in the summer and fall I throw a baby brush hog. Quote
primetime Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 With so many baits on the market I find that I rarely put a lizard on the line unless it is a floating lizard for a c-rig which I rarely do, but I like brush hogs and every bait mentioned. I think they all work well, I have always used the Zoom lizards but can't say they are any better than other's since I tend to lean toward the brush hogs now.....The only thing I hate about the big Magnum floating lizards is the texture, but the action is good on a shaky rig as well since they will do a headstand which at times will get them to strike, Need to get sharper hooks for fishing them I think.
