Big Fish Small Pond Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 What Pound Test Line Do You Use, Personally, on a Medium Power Caster Rig? You can add whether it is mono, flouro, or braid and the brand as well if you like Quote
Super User Raul Posted October 31, 2014 Super User Posted October 31, 2014 8 lb test hybrid line. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted October 31, 2014 Super User Posted October 31, 2014 30lb power pro super slick 1 Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted October 31, 2014 Super User Posted October 31, 2014 Well all my baitcasters are spooled with either 15, 20, or 30lb power pro or 832. From there it's a matter of what I'm fishing, then adjusting and either putting a topshot of mono (10-14lb) or FC (10 or 12). The med action rods I fish I throw cranks, topwaters, blade, buzz, and spinnerbaits. Quote
Big Fish Small Pond Posted October 31, 2014 Author Posted October 31, 2014 Hey Gulfcaptain, You do not use that Medium Power Casting Rod for Plastics? Or do you just avoid using plastics? Quote
John G Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Lately it's 10# mono or 10# FC but I think that I will be switching to 30# or 40# braid. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted October 31, 2014 Super User Posted October 31, 2014 8# mono is my standard in several different brands at the moment. 10# mono on one. Currently no braid on Medium casting rods. Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted October 31, 2014 Super User Posted October 31, 2014 10-15-20-40# braid and 10,12# FC Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted October 31, 2014 Super User Posted October 31, 2014 20lb Power Pro braid, with a 10,12, or 15lb fluoro leader as needed. 1 Quote
Super User deep Posted November 1, 2014 Super User Posted November 1, 2014 12# FC on one, 55# braid with 10# mono leader on another. Of course, since almost every company understates the braking strength, the 10# mono is thicker than the 12# FC lol. Quote
BasshunterJGH Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 12 lb sunline super natural mono or sniper FC. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted November 1, 2014 Super User Posted November 1, 2014 I use 10lb mono, 10lb Fluro, and 30lb braid on my assorted medium baitcasters. We don't have BIG Bass here in 'the city'. Unless you're talking Stripers - a different forum... Quote
Super User Darren. Posted November 1, 2014 Super User Posted November 1, 2014 I use 20# yellow Power Pro on my bait casting setups and always tie on a leader. Braid keeps line management issues at bay, the leader keeps me from cutting large amounts of the braid every time I retie a hook. Also use M Fast and M X-fast rods for soft plastics. Actually, my main rig right now for soft plastics (casting) is a ML Carbonlite 6'6" paired with a Chronarch 50e. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted November 1, 2014 Super User Posted November 1, 2014 12 pound whatever Quote
Trap-n-Fish Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I use 30# braid with a leader on mine. Quote
Jtrout Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 30lb braid on baitcaster 10lb braid on spinning Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted November 1, 2014 Global Moderator Posted November 1, 2014 The only medium cating rod I have is a 6 ft. That I use for jerks and pop r's....10 lb mono. Mike Quote
LunkerFisher Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 40# 832 w/ a 12# trilene big game leader and a snap. I use it for walking baits, open water frogging, rat-l-traps, and square bills. I can also ditch the snap and use it for light cover jigging with 3/8oz jigs. This setup does a lot! Quote
