It would be great if bass resource offered a section just for kayak fishing , not combined with boats and canoes .Kayak fishing is so versatile , I can travel ten miles down a river surrounded by land owners and river access and fish places were bass don't see lures. Its an amazing advantage to find great fish and adventure. Alote of state forums do offer kayak fishing its own section , and kayak fishing is growing so fast . The new KBS pro kayak circuit is starting this year offering great cash payouts. It would be great to have our own section and draw many more kayakers to this forum . Nationally there isn't a greater forum then this one . And only state fishing forums have really attracted the majority of kayak fishermen . To have a nationally forum like this catering to yakers needs would bring the kayakers together better from all different areas , thanks guys.

It's been discussed ad nauseum, along with a new food section, one for just women, one for each type of boat, one for for fly-fishing, etc., etc.  There's not enough kayak specific posts to warrant it, and I firmly believe fishing is fishing.  When you have too many sub groups, information gets lost in individual silos.

i pretty much agree with you jfrancho....  and that's from a guy who only fishes from the yak or the bank....

in fact, kayak forums typically turn into more of a rigging discussion than fishing...  lots of forums out there for kayakers, but no fishing site as good as BR

there are other boards out there that are kayak specific and as mentioned already, it is really about rigging.  Other than that, fishing is fishing and wit hate advent of so many boats that provide the angler the ability to stand up, there are no techniques that cannot be accomplished as easily from a kayak as they can from any other type of boat.

Fishing is totally different depending on how you access the water.Bass boats can go were kayaks can't depending on wind conditions. Kayaks can go were boats can't , stump fields , shallow back water creeks and bank fisherman can't fish deep water humps or around islands in the middle of the lake. I'm sorry fishing is totally different depending on what platform you do it. The river I take people fishing on averages a foot deep and can only be accessed by a kayak , there is no boats on it.

I fish from a kayak, aluminum boat, and a 22' bass boat. They're all just tools to get you there. Once your there, bass is a bass.

I will say this, and I'm gonna start doing it too - use the tag field to add "kayak" and tag the posts. I might try to see if I can add tags to existing posts too.

Once you get to the areas to fish, how is it any different?  I guess i am missing that part because for me, other than holding boat position when fishing deeper water i fish the same from a boat or kayak.

Thanks franco , ill start tagging .Most of the time I do but thanks for pointing that out.Im sorry I didn't clarify .Its different depending on what platform you use to fish to get to the fish . Bank fishing has limited oppurtunties to access certain parts of the lake .An example is : I live by a lake that is 2500 acres of stumps and submerged timber. When the lake is low , boats cant get it the areas a kayak can because its so tight with the timber. Lake aquilla is a great blue catfish lake . In these low lake level situations , I can squeeze my way into the trees in my yak and haul in some nice blue cats , and crappie. But I see your point too , as far as throwing a lure .Its not any different ,just the way you get there or access it might be and an advantage.

It's called "Everything Else."  Knock yourself out, and start a food thread.  We had a thread about a year ago asking for a food forum.  The thread ran for a couple days.  It's the only food related thread in the past three years.  Apparently, no one cares about posting food on a bass fishing forum, lol.

No need IMO.  I fish from a kayak a ton and there are very few things which warrant a different section altogether IMO.  Those topics which were "Kayak specific" were answered without a need for a separate section.

Bass Boats, Canoes, Kayaks, and more...we do have a section.
