Big Fish Small Pond Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Feel free to give an answer on the poll or just leave a reply below. Not looking for a look at google reply either
Super User rippin-lips Posted October 30, 2014 Super User Posted October 30, 2014 There is no need for a poll. Kvd l&l A quick search on google or here will give you enough info to read for a few days on it. 1
Big Fish Small Pond Posted October 30, 2014 Author Posted October 30, 2014 haha yea but how many people even tried the alternative?
Super User Felix77 Posted October 30, 2014 Super User Posted October 30, 2014 I have tried them both ... Started with Reel Magic because that is what was available to me locally. One day on this forum pointed me to KVD's and once I tried it there was no turning back .... much better results with KVD. 1
Super User rippin-lips Posted October 30, 2014 Super User Posted October 30, 2014 Enough of us to know its not the same type of product. Like I mentioned,a search will yield you the answers you are looking for. This isn't the first time this has been asked. Google reel magic vs Kvd line and lure. I double dog dare you.

Super User Felix77 Posted October 30, 2014 Super User Posted October 30, 2014 Reel Magic is oil based and according to research can actually weaken line over time. The oil also tends to get everywhere and attract dirt which can get into some gnarly places. KVD is polymer based and actually bonds with the line. I put it on when I respool and then the night before each tournament. Works great. 1
Super User Felix77 Posted October 30, 2014 Super User Posted October 30, 2014 http://www.lineandlure.com/media/videos/play/4/Reel_Magic_Will_It_Burn Yup!
Super User J Francho Posted October 30, 2014 Super User Posted October 30, 2014 I have tried them both ... Started with Reel Magic because that is what was available to me locally. One day John yelled at me and once I tried KVD, there was no turning back .... much better results with KVD. Fixed. LOL. 1

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted October 30, 2014 BassResource.com Administrator Posted October 30, 2014 This question gets asked every couple of weeks. Hence the answers you're getting now. People are getting annoyed and tired of answering the same thing over and over in such a short time. Just as much as you don't want to do a search for it, they don't want to answer it. Make sense? 3
Super User rippin-lips Posted October 30, 2014 Super User Posted October 30, 2014 http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/topic/648667/gonew/1 Second result on Google.
Super User tomustang Posted October 30, 2014 Super User Posted October 30, 2014 I wasted money on real magic once.
hatrix Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Is this real life? I didn't even know it was a competition.
jbw252 Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I have tried them both ... Started with Reel Magic because that is what was available to me locally. One day on this forum pointed me to KVD's and once I tried it there was no turning back .... much better results with KVD. ^^^^^^^^Yup...Exactly what Felix said.
Big Fish Small Pond Posted October 31, 2014 Author Posted October 31, 2014 Yea that's what happens when you just go and quickly post a question after reading about kvd line conditioner, without ever hearing of it before, in another post. That is why I figured I would utilize the poll question format. But even without google, kind of why I joined the forum, your guys answers have been constructive and much appreciated. Just by reading this forum post I have come to realize that they are made from different materials entirely, hence causing different, possibly unforeseen, effects. Thanks for the replies guys. I figured I should close this poll before too much vitriol finds its way onto this posting.
Super User iceintheveins Posted November 2, 2014 Super User Posted November 2, 2014 There is no contest, KVD L and L all the way.
Super User Tywithay Posted November 2, 2014 Super User Posted November 2, 2014 Reel magic is basically just wd40. It does have uses inside the reel to prevent corrosion (not as a lubricant). KVD is a better product for what you want.
5fishlimit Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 The shining achievement for Reel Magic is that it works great to clean your touch screen electronics. For line management you don't need to look past KVD L&L.
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Reel magic is basically just wd40. It does have uses inside the reel to prevent corrosion (not as a lubricant). KVD is a better product for what you want. FWIW, don't let Reel Magic, WD40 or any other brand of spray silicone anywhere near the internals of a reel. The solvents that make it spray-able will dissolve grease and oil. In fact, I've used WD40 as a degreaser. Water resistant grease, even ISO rated hydraulic oil is a better anti corrosion lubricant than Reel Magic etc. Now freeing up already corroded parts, that's another story.
Super User J Francho Posted November 3, 2014 Super User Posted November 3, 2014 Now freeing up already corroded parts, that's another story. PB Blaster, brother.
OnthePotomac Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 What is KVD? Line & Lure is a special polymer blend that becomes part of the fishing line it is applied to. Other line treatments you find on the market are primarily silicone oil and solvents. Silicone oil only temporarily coats the line and solvents can damage line. Silicone oil rapidly comes off the line (on your hands and in the water), requiring re-treatment of the line after just a few casts. The special polymers in Line & Lure are hydrophobic (water repelling) and very slippery. It doesn't allow water to draw back on to the reel spool, which eliminates the line drag that a "wet" spool has. It also protects the line from wearing out as quickly as un-treated line because it resists the abrasion that wears line out. It contains no oils or solvents as in Reel Magic that can build up and collect dirt like silicone/oil treatments will.
Super User rippin-lips Posted November 3, 2014 Super User Posted November 3, 2014 You are beating a dead horse.
Super User ChrisD46 Posted November 3, 2014 Super User Posted November 3, 2014 I only use reel magic now to shine up reels , guides and what not - no longer use on the line . There is no contest, KVD L and L all the way.
