NavyVet Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 I am asking for opinions on this reel to be used as a general purpose crankbait reel. I have never owned a Lews, but they seem to get a lot of good reviews. Have used Shimano till now . Any problems with smoothness, castibility, excessive backlash, or problems with dialing them in? Was also wonderining if the larger spool may help somewhat with overall casting distance? How about ease of use and durability? Quote
ColdSVT Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 my buddy owns one...awesome reel! it's comfy in the hand, smooth, and it casts squarebills a country mile!. it also had the CF handle like the tourny pro. I played with it when he first got it for a 5 or six casts and man was it nice. He told me it wasn't difficult to dial in at all oh and it looks good to boot! Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted October 29, 2014 Super User Posted October 29, 2014 I bought a Tatula Chronarch CI4 and BB1 Pro at the same time. The Pro was the only one to give me any issue. It started screaming on the cast. The levelwind became very loose and wobbly after just a few weeks use this lead to casting issue bad line lay backlash. The knobs started to peel only after about 4hrs use. So to me durability was very lacking. On top of that it didnt cast any better than the other two reels. When using lures under 3/4oz (basically everything I use) the CI4 could outcast it easily. Lures under 3/8oz and CI4 shined .over the BB1Pro. The Tat was cheaper cast very well so kept that and CI4 much better so kept that returned the Pro. Quote
