Big Fish Small Pond Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Would the Daiwa Tatula be a good all around bass fishing reel? Quote
desmobob Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 I picked one up about a month ago (you can find them new for less than $95) and not only was I satisfied, I was impressed. It was one of those rare times when I felt that I got more than my money's worth. I believe you would be happy with one as an all-around bass reel. Tight lines, Bob Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted October 28, 2014 Super User Posted October 28, 2014 I have two, along with some higher end Daiwas. It get used just as much and maybe a tad more. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted October 29, 2014 Super User Posted October 29, 2014 Yup, very good choice especially considering how cheap you can get them. I am blown away you can get this reel for $100 +/-. Paid $113 each for mine and probably the best deal I've had on any new reels, ever. Quote
frogfish195 Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Tatula is a great reel. It comes in speeds from 5.4 all the way to 8.1 if you want to move up to the Type R or the HD The 6.3 should work well for most all around fishing. I have a number of Daiwa's and the Tatula is probably my favorite. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted October 29, 2014 Super User Posted October 29, 2014 As for the type R. Well it's been discussed over and over about the differences between the regular Tatula. You aren't gaining anything other than cosmetics basically. You get red accents, black paint,Zion drag star,2 crbb's,porting in the frame, and a very slight .03oz weight difference. Unless you want the ipt of the 8:1:1 then there's no need for the type R. I fish them side by side every time I'm on the water. I couldn't tell you which one was in my hand if I was blindfolded. OP you can get one online for about $90. It's one of the best reels in the $100 range. Just beware of it's slightly larger frame size. Some people have not liked how it felt when palming. Quote
The Fisher Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Love this reel. I have a Lews Tournament Speed Spool which is a good reel. But I bought a Tatula 100 and I ended up buying another one. It casts a mile with no backlashes. I use it for jigs and weightless Senkos. Outside of my Citica E this is one reel to have under $150. Quote
