Did you happen to go fishing this year and hooked up with a fish that just might have been a pb and lost it during the fight ? not just thought it was a pb, but kinda knew for sure it was ? or even it wasn't a pb but the best fish for this years fishing ? that happened to me about august this year it wasn't a pb but was at least a 3 or 4lb bass and that's pretty decent for around here. what's your story if this happened to you this year?

It's amazing how accurate scales are for lost fish.

I hooked a big ole bass that felt like a stump when I set the hook, upon further investigation after he threw the hook it was in fact a stump.

After watching numerous, as in every, profesional make the comment "It's a huge one!" then get it to the boat and say "Not as big as I thought.". I'm not sure you can tell from how it 'feels'. If the guys that do it for a living can't tell. I'm sure I can't either.

Yeah about a week ago I was throwing a lipless crank along the shore line I had already mad about 5-6 casts to the left and right. So I throw it again to the left and start reeling and BAM fish on. Starts pulling drag like crazy fight it for about 2 minutes and finally get him to the weed edge n all I saw was the corner of his mouth n part of his gill plate it was a biggin then I'm trying to pull him thru the weeds and he's about 5 feet infront of me and shakes the hooks and swims away. I was shaking lol and ticked off I shoulda went in the lake n grabbed him

Your best PB stump so far or just a regular everyday stump ?.

Hello and Welcome to BR ~

And I'm betting there's a lot of wishful thinking going on right there.

Just happened to me yesterday. i honestly had trouble sleeping last night..It was a very big and strong pickerel. Put up a fight to remember and I had it at the shore several times and got a very good look at it and it jumped clear out of the water. I have had some decent fights this year with fish but this one was on a level of its own. This fight had rounds to it. And it took me some time to get this to shore and overall maybe 5min fighting it. It was too strong to try and just power this thing in. I was working slowly and thought I was wearing it down nicely. As I got it too the shore it took off again and it did that again when I got it back. Then the 3rd time it started running under this lip on the bank and I knew that was trouble. I got it out from under there and then it gave a massive burst and got back in there and right then and there I just knew I wouldn't get that fish out of the water. I could really have used 2 more arms to help me. Then as I was working it out from under there it gave one more massive jerk and it was gone. All that was left was a piece of flesh from its mouth on the treble hook of the rapala. It was the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows all wrapped up in one. I never weigh or measure fish. But I caught my biggest pickerel ever last week and this was without question bigger. It would have been the biggest pickerel I have ever caught.

I only had to read the OP once to understand it, I'm getting good at this!

I'm still having trouble - do they make a Rosetta Stone for this ?

:)
