Weld's Largemouth Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Today the bite sucked. The conditions seemed amazing: 60 degrees and sunny, no wind. Perfect conditions for this pond. However, i didnt even see a single bass or get a single bite.. I tried every lure i own. Bluegills were everywhere and they were biting like crazy.. But thats it... I dont know whats going on. Winter cant be here yet.. Its going to be 70 degrees the next two days.. Whats going on?!?! Quote
einscodek Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 What time of day did you go and what was the water temps? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 28, 2014 Global Moderator Posted October 28, 2014 Any vegetation in the pond? Lots of the weeds are dying off here with the water temps dropping and when that starts happening the fishing is tough for awhile. Quote

Weeds are part of the prblem as well, it cuts out many lures that i cant fish. Im pretty much limited to weedless approaches. Even on a jig i always have weeds build up on the line.. Quote

Weld's Largemouth Posted October 28, 2014 Author Posted October 28, 2014 probably switched plugs too muchI might have to agree with this. I switched often to find a lure that wont get weeds though Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted October 28, 2014 Super User Posted October 28, 2014 if the grass is dying off find places where it isn't and that is where the fish will be. dying grass limits the amount of oxygen in the water and moves the fish elsewhere. if you can find green grass it is a sure bet that there are fish there..... 1 Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted October 30, 2014 Super User Posted October 30, 2014 You're not alone. Up here in Red Sox country the bite's been way off, for me, at least. I've fished three of my 'regular' spots over the last two weeks with surface temps in the low 60's and have four 1 + - lb. LMB and one Rainbow Trout to show for it. 1 Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted October 31, 2014 Super User Posted October 31, 2014 Slow days happen. Try to get out as much as you can. You never know what the next day has in store for you. 1 Quote
