Lard_Bass Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 I walking by a local fishing report board at a sporting goods store and noticed bass have been hitting reef runners cicadas. I never heard of them. I was walking by the crankbaits and noticed the aforementioned lure and noticed that most sizes and colors had been cleared out. Anyone have info on this bait and how to fish it? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted April 18, 2007 Super User Posted April 18, 2007 They are similar to the Silver Buddy. The main difference is the blade part is a willow leaf spinnerbait blade and is curved unlike the Silver Buddy being a flat blade. Quote
liquidsoap Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Its a blade bait, just like a Vibe or a Silver buddy. They work great in cold weather. The work even better for walleye! Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted April 18, 2007 Super User Posted April 18, 2007 Good, too for active crappie. Cast it out, count it down and crank it in. Sometimes a lift and drop retrieve works too. Quote

"Ditto" Bladebaits are normally worked with a vertical delivery. In very cold water when bass are marking on the sounder, the cicada can be yo-yoed right in the fish depth-zone. Lift the lure about a foot or two, just fast enough to feel the throb of the blade. Then follow the lure's descent with the rod-tip to prevent excess slack line but without putting any back-pressure on the blade. Roger Quote
