Super User Montanaro Posted October 24, 2014 Super User Posted October 24, 2014 I bought a great rod on ebay recently but it has a couple poorly repaired eyelets. Was hoping to flip for profit but will probably now keep it for my own enjoyment. Question is, should I fix it myself (done it once before) or ship it out and have a professional do it? Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted October 24, 2014 Super User Posted October 24, 2014 If you have done it once and were satisfied with the results, do it yourself and save the money. Hootie Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 If it's a high end rod it mat be worth having done professionally should you decide to sell it down the road. Just for personal use a slightly crooked guide is really more cosmetic than anything else. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted October 25, 2014 Author Super User Posted October 25, 2014 It is a steez and I realized they have lifetime warranty and have read where people in similar situations have got brand new rod. I'd at least ask them to quote me for a repair if the warranty doesn't apply. The previous owner replaced tip with a large guide you'd find on a catfish pole...looks hideous. Everything else is almost perfect. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 A tip top is easy to replace. There's a recent thread right here in the forum. Otherwise it's a $5-$7 fix at a tackle or rod shop. Quote
