Super User F14A-B Posted October 24, 2014 Super User Posted October 24, 2014 Metal detectors should be at every school.
Kevin Beachy Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 Metal detectors should be at every school. X2
Super User deaknh03 Posted October 24, 2014 Super User Posted October 24, 2014 Metal detectors should be at every school. 100 years ago all the boys brought their guns to school, as they all hunted...no one was ever shot..so what's the difference between then and now? Parents and prescription drugs, kids are all doped up because they're too hyper, not hyper enough, not smart enough, too smart, whatever, and the parents put them on drugs because it's the easy thing to do instead of actually trying to understand the kid or deal with them. All of these mass shootings have one common thread..prescription drugs. 3
Super User tomustang Posted October 24, 2014 Super User Posted October 24, 2014 This has been happening for a long time, and it occurs all over the world. Why so surprised?
Super User aavery2 Posted October 24, 2014 Super User Posted October 24, 2014 I think there is a correlation with the end of cursive writing ... 4
Super User Raul Posted October 24, 2014 Super User Posted October 24, 2014 100 years ago you as a kid did somthing wrong your maw or paw or both beat the living schnitz out of your hide, nowdays they don't do that anymore. Personally I'm against physical punishment but psychological punishment count me in, you can still beat the living schnitz out of your kid's hide without ever putting a hand on them, I'm not my children's friend, I'm their father, I'm the mean sob that punishes. 2
craww Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Free time and soft lifestyles is why this happens. Kids used to go to work and do hard labour at much earlier ages. No time for this stupid BS when you were tired from working. With respect to the forum religon policies; I had an uncle that always said idle hands are the devil's work shop. Truer now than ever.
Super User aavery2 Posted October 24, 2014 Super User Posted October 24, 2014 desensitization and over sensualization
Super User J Francho Posted October 24, 2014 Super User Posted October 24, 2014 How sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by this tragedy.
Super User Lund Explorer Posted October 24, 2014 Super User Posted October 24, 2014 One simply needs to look at the lifestyles of "celebrities" many of today's youth look up to. When I was the age of this shooter, we listened to Motown. Now its Rap Artists shooting each other. Toss into the mix all of the other kids killing kids news stories that for some reason makes a lot of these misfits think they can become famous themselves just as soon as they can find a few loose weapons laying around. And speaking of that. How in the H E Double Hockey Sticks does a freshman in high school get his hands on a gun without his parents knowing about it? Like others have said, I was one of those guys that had a gun in the car during hunting season. But my parents knew it. And I earned my right to have that gun by showing responsibility. Before I could get ahold of it. Within the next day or so, we'll likely hear one parent or another say they didn't even know junior had any idea about guns. Even though he had every version of Grand Theft Auto!
Super User clayton86 Posted October 24, 2014 Super User Posted October 24, 2014 Don't even have to go back 100 years. Ive been out of school for 9 years I used to come to school late once deer season started and always had my gun in the back rack of my pick up and usually a dead deer in the bed. I also live in a very country community wasn't unusual to drive a tractor to school. The whole situation is sad and tragic the whole world is going down the drains.
einscodek Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Know what it is? Not enough fishin'! Not enough being by yerself and going back to nature and solitude.. Not enough time to reflect about if any of this craziness is at all important Too many frustrations no outlet no reflection = volcanoes ready to explode.. 1
Super User SirSnookalot Posted October 25, 2014 Super User Posted October 25, 2014 This has been happening for a long time, and it occurs all over the world. Why so surprised? What other country has had 87 school shootings just since Sandy Hook? Only the school shootings, other mass shootings and acts of terrorism get our attention, but with about 30,000 total gun related deaths per year no country comes close to that. If this study is accurate the US has 88 guns per 100 people, with 10 gun related deaths per 100,000 people. Only South Africa comes near that 9 deaths per 100,000 all other civilized countries are well below 3 deaths per 100k. These other countries have everything we have, 24 hour news, video games, higher education, but they have less guns and less deaths due to firearms. Lots of guns and lots deaths seem to have something in common. 1
Super User tomustang Posted October 25, 2014 Super User Posted October 25, 2014 A gun is just an instrument, school attacks are also done with knives, box cutters axes etc. Many people forget or even know their was another mass school attack the same day sandy hook took place, it was in china and 36 people mostly children were stabbed. It's not the instrument (gun) it's the person. 1
Super User SirSnookalot Posted October 25, 2014 Super User Posted October 25, 2014 You are right, but numbers don't lie about guns and deaths on our home soil. True people are behind these acts, which doesn't bode well for the psychological make up of some that possess these weapons. No question in my mind better control is needed, what the exact answer is I don't know. For time being it is what is, in time the pendulum will swing in the other direction, I may not be alive to see it but it will happen.
Super User Oregon Native Posted October 25, 2014 Super User Posted October 25, 2014 Bible wasn't all the bad when it mentioned how to raise our familys....now we have the boob tube to help us raise our familys and politicians and actors to help us too!!!!!

Numbers don't lie but statistics can be, and are manipulated to satisfy the agenda's of one side or the other. Guns are not the problem. Better gun control isn't needed, better values and better parenting are. Children are being raised on Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty instead of fishing and baseball. Why should we expect any different when social skills are learned in the confines of ones basement or bedroom and not out in the real world? There wasa time when people who had mental disorders were removed from society and housed in hospitals and asylums. Now, we just medicate them and give them a monthly stipend. Common sense isn't so common. 4
scrutch Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 ATTENTION PARENTS! Go spend some quality time with your children! Teach them how to be good adults by setting a good example with your own lifestyle choices. Your words mean nothing. Your actions are what your children will follow. Spend half the money and twice the time with them. After all, you will need someone to care for you someday when YOU CAN'T DO IT YOURSELF! 3
Super User F14A-B Posted October 25, 2014 Super User Posted October 25, 2014 Just take a look at the massive physiological paper trail involving these mass murder situations. VA. Tech, Sandy Hook, Utah theater/ comic book nut case, California no girl wants me criminal, on & on.. This country needs Dr. Control & not gun control.. The mental health records must be divulged before these horrendous , most evil acts occur, this should at the very least stop many of these situations from occurring .

Common sense isn't so common. Right, guns are not the problem, it's the people that own them. Place the blame where want, the fact is undeniable, lots of guns and lots of deaths. Other countries don't have this problem on the same magnitude as we do, are they better parents or is better gun control?
Super User F14A-B Posted October 25, 2014 Super User Posted October 25, 2014 Yea snook and America is still the best Democratic country in the world. So, what exact countries do you refer? China, the UK, or? I'm curious as you only say countries.
Super User slonezp Posted October 25, 2014 Super User Posted October 25, 2014 Right, guns are not the problem, it's the people that own them. Place the blame where want, the fact is undeniable, lots of guns and lots of deaths. Other countries don't have this problem on the same magnitude as we do, are they better parents or is better gun control? I own multiple guns. Does that mean I am part of the problem? I've never shot another human nor have thought about it.
