dam0007 Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Please sign and spread the word. https://www.change.org/p/deep-comissioner-robert-klee-remove-ugly-orange-barrier-on-the-ct-river-in-haddam In a nutshell at a specific location on the CT River there is a canal that Yankee Gas blocked off. It borders a site where there once was a power plant, said canal was discharge side. Yankee Gas aka Connecticut Yankee blocked it off illegally before obtaining permit. CBN/ Connecticut Bass Nation is fighting as well as town residents and hunters to get this boom removed. The biggest problem is the company blocking off a public waterway they do not own. DEEP and other entities within state government are on our side! There is a ton of information about this on the web you can get with a quick search. All of your fellow anglers in CT would greatly appreciate any of you to help us fight and sign this petition. MODS if this is in the wrong place or I violated some sort of forum rule for petition, apologies in advance! Quote

Super User bigbill Posted October 25, 2014 Super User Posted October 25, 2014 I just don't understand fishing in ct anymore. It seems the more we pay the less areas we get to fish. We don't even get the DEEP to back us up. We pay for a saltwater license and have you ever tried to find a spot to park and fish in Milford or stratford beaches? I'm disabled and found an awesome place to fish next to my car. I fish off a low bridge and I'm not on anyone's property. They don't own the water. It's legal for me to fish there. I got asked to leave by the land owner. I reported it to the DEEP but they acted like they wanted not to get involved. I'm lucky I still have my old hot spots to fish. My point is were losing places to fish in ct. These little privately owned places were we once fished for decades are changing hands and we lose that spot. I practice c&r and don't leave any garbage behind. I don't fish in the ct river but I'll do the form anyway. Quote

Dude me and my buddy got threatened to be arrested a few years back at Woodmont beach poet at the end of Belmont. Mind you it was during the Bluefish tourney. I raised hell with the police (friend is a Leo) we got the officer suspended. They don't bother fishermen anymore over there. I Feel your pain I fish the same areas saltwater. This section of the CT River was prime during tournaments. The Blues have been coming up farther chasing bait so a lot of the canals have sucked that are south of the Salmon. Deep is behind us on this the point of the petition is basically playing politics and giving Deep ammo against CT Yankee. Quote
