Big Fish Small Pond Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Hey guys, just wondering what are some of your best combos(spinning or casting) for under $100? I would honestly have to say right now, it is most likely my Abu Garcia Black Max matched with an Ugly Stik GX2 MH 6'6". Coming in just under $100 Quote
benthinkin Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 got an old clarus for 50 new and put a sienna on it Quote
ThatZX14Fella Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I like my Pflueger Templar on the Ugly Stick 7' Medim. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted October 22, 2014 Super User Posted October 22, 2014 Baitcast: Diawa V.I.P. 6'9" MF with an Ambassadeur 1600C. However, my Berkley Lightning 6' MH and Daiwa Procaster 100HN ain't bad for less than $50. Spinning: 6' Lightning and Penn 430SS. Both around 40 years old. No idea of price, but can guarantee less than $100. Probably closer to $50. Quote
gramps50 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I have a Pflueger President mounted on an Oddssey spinning rod I bought for half price at $20, in fact I have several in different actions. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted October 22, 2014 Super User Posted October 22, 2014 Tough one because I don't have hardly any combos under that price range. I'd have to say my browning silaflex (a fiberglass spinning rod) with a pflueger president. It's okay at tossing smaller cranks under 1/4 of an ounce or small topwaters like zara puppies. Quote
timsford Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I only have 2 combos in that price range. A browning ultralite combo and an ugly stick spinning rod with a mitchell avocet silver i use for catfish now. Ive never had a problem with my ugly stick. Not the most sensitive, but ive had it going on 15 years and put it through a ton of abuse and its held up to everything, even falling on it on rip rap then catching a 20 lb flathead an hour later. The avocet i havent had near as long, but i havent had a hiccup from it and it has a smooth drag, which is a must when fighting large catfish Quote
cbass12 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 6'6" ML BPS Bionic Blade and Shimano Sedona 2500. Got the bionic blade on sale for around 40 and the Sedona is 59. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 22, 2014 Global Moderator Posted October 22, 2014 6' 8" M/F Ethos with an H2O Mettle casting reel. Bought the rod on sale for $60, reel on sale for $30. Spinning would be my 6' 8" M/F Ethos spinning rod I got for $40 and Pfluegar President for $50. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted October 22, 2014 Super User Posted October 22, 2014 2 piece 6' light action lightening rod with a ul trion. Haven't looked at in in 5-6 years, as far as I know it's in excellent shape. It's free to any one that wants it, be local I'm not shipping. Quote

TrippyJai Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Spinning: Pflueger President + Fenwick Eagle Quote
BasshunterJGH Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I had a black max with a cabelas magtouch for a while got the combo for $100. It was a good frogging/flipping combo for the $. Quote
BasshunterJGH Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 My shimano Sedona / lightning rod combo....she is 11 years old and goin strong! The sedona is a great reel for the money! My first reel was a sedona sold it to my brother it's still working great! I would definitely recommend a sedona with a lightning rod or ugly stik as a spinning combo under $100. Quote
hatrix Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I only have 1 combo that's under $100 so its my only choice. Black Max with a Falcon Bucco Micro 6'6" M/H. That whole combo cost me like $35 since the reel was free and Walmart sucks. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted October 23, 2014 Super User Posted October 23, 2014 Shimano zeles Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted October 24, 2014 Super User Posted October 24, 2014 2 piece 6' light action lightening rod with a ul trion. Haven't looked at in in 5-6 years, as far as I know it's in excellent shape. It's free to any one that wants it, be local I'm not shipping. After reading this thread I used this outfit yesterday PM for the first time in about 5 years, had a ball catching bass and mayan cichlids on a crappie jig. I'm keeping it, lol. Quote

Super User Goose52 Posted November 19, 2014 Super User Posted November 19, 2014 Rod, reel, line, and chatterbait = ~$100. The nine-pound bass was free... 1 Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted November 19, 2014 Super User Posted November 19, 2014 I have a used Pflueger Trion spining reel I paid $9 for of ebay that was like new, mounted on a Berkley Lightning Rod shock that Wal-mart had marked down to $30. This rod/reel was in my hand when I won a tournament this past july, and also landed the tournament lunker. Not bad for $39. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted November 19, 2014 Super User Posted November 19, 2014 and Walmart sucks. You can say that about another thousand times. 1 Quote
