Before my wife and I got married she promised me that if the Royals ever made it to the World Series that we would go. Keep in mind I am only 29 and the Royals were in the middle of losing 100 games per season for the 5th straight year. Tonight she and I will make good on that promise and attend an event I truly never thought possible. Not only will we cheer for the Royals, but all the Royals fans who have been stuck in the drought of Desi Releford, Jose Lima, Mark Redman, Ken Harvey, Matt Stairs, and Tony Pena Jr.

I know that I am truly a blessed man to have married such a wonderful woman!

And we can also talk about the can't-miss prospects that did just that..... Colt Griffin, Jeff Granger, Mark Quinn... I could go on and on. It's nice to see some of our big prospects finally performing at the level we all thought they would.

Growing up in Kansas City, I was there when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl in 1970.

I was a Senior in high school. It's been awhile.

The Royals were a great team throughout the Brett Era, but the only World Series win was in 1985.

Just making it to The Show is quite a feat after 29 years.

Good luck boys!

I don't care who wins the series, and being a lifelong hardcore baseball fan, I appreciate seeing KC back in the show, but they suffered thru the drought because they had cheap ownership. After the series of 85, they had and let go players such as Bo Jackson, Tom Gordon, David Cone, Johnny Damon, Jermaine Dye, Zach Greinke, and many others..all let go due to the Royals not wanting to pay them..so they have had very good players along the way, but they bungled it for 26 or so years. I do wish them luck now, but something tells me when these young players come up for a payday, it's gonna be another 30 years of frustration for KC fans.

Its always a possibility to go unless your a Cubs fan. :laugh5:

I would really like to see the Royals win since the Cards are not in it anymore.

You're partially right about the "cheap" ownership. The last year Mr. Kauffman had the team was 1993, he passed in May, and we had the highest payroll in the majors that year. Since then it has been a franchise that has skimped wherever it could. We had a payroll in the teens one year. Since the Glass family took over as owners the payroll has steadily climbed. They have taken a lot of grief over the years, and I can't blame those that criticize them, but in the last few years they've done what is needed to put a quality team on the field. As for them not paying their younger players when it becomes time, you could be right, but the culture has changed around here. Dayton Moore has been reloading the farm system every year with not only quality draft picks, but also international signings. I see things staying about the same for a while as long as DM and the current management are in place. And most of the players you mentioned were traded away or allowed to enter free agency, most of which did nothing to help the franchise. The Beltran deal was probably the worst. The one that actually worked out in our favor was the Greinke trade. We received 4 players in that trade, two of which are our starting shortstop and center fielder. That trade was the first major deal that DM made and I'd have to say it worked out pretty well.

I hope things are changing for the better, you fans deserve it.

BK, i hoped you enjoyed that game just for what it was and not for the outcome of your team....  that was the first game this playoff series that they looked like they were out of place or just didn't show up to play in the big game.

i'm hoping for a better game tonight!

We were simply out pitched. Shields was all over the place (after 10 days of rest it would be hard to catch your groove.... Especially trying in the World Series.) I expect way better results tonight!

i think tonight should be far better....

i would say not only out-pitched, but too many fielding errors and some wild swings of the bat.  all in all the whole team just looked uncomfortable last night.

i hope they even it out tonight and keep this series tight

Done and done!

If they play the rest of the series like tonight they're going to be tough to beat.
