Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted October 21, 2014 Super User Posted October 21, 2014 It would help IMO, especially with us younger kids that didn't grow up writing essays in full cursive. Younger kids? With that sweet 'stache I would have guessed you were at least 17 or 18. 6
Super User Catch and Grease Posted October 21, 2014 Author Super User Posted October 21, 2014 Younger kids? With that sweet 'stache I would have guessed you were at least 17 or 18. Lol I'm 17, wrestling is about to start and I gotta lose the stache

Super User gardnerjigman Posted October 21, 2014 Super User Posted October 21, 2014 Are we saying that it is lazy to write in cursive, or that her handwriting being terrible is the result of her laziness? I am saying her hand writing is terrible because of laziness.
EvanT123 Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Not to get to political but one day kids won't be able to read the constitution without it being printed out. What a shame smh.

What a shame smh. Not trying to sound like a jerk, but why do you think it maters if kids can read stuff like the constituion in cursive? How's that different than reading it in print
Super User J Francho Posted October 21, 2014 Super User Posted October 21, 2014 Not to get to political but one day kids won't be able to read the constitution without it being printed out. What a shame smh. Not really a "new' problem. The U.S. Printing Office has maintained a printed transcript of the document almost since it's ***. Here's a PDF copy of it: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/CDOC-110hdoc50/pdf/CDOC-110hdoc50.pdf "Cursive," handwriting is a means to expedite the writing process. Before typewriters, word processors, computers, email, text message, communication was handwritten, as were many documents. It was faster to write than printing each letter. That it evolved into an art form is purely an aesthetic (a cool one at that.) of self expression. 1

How's that different than reading it in print It doesn't. Most early American citizens couldn't read at all.

How's that different than reading it in print The constitution was merely an example. Yes we are in a digital age but not knowing how to at least read script imo would put someone at a disadvantage. I'm 29 all I write is script. Hopefully I'm not going anywhere but I could be your boss someday. What if i write out a list of things for you to do. You going to ask me to type it up for you?
Super User F14A-B Posted October 21, 2014 Super User Posted October 21, 2014 You think cursive is bad try calligraphy , as J F alluded to.
Super User buzzed bait Posted October 21, 2014 Super User Posted October 21, 2014 cursive is dead, i agree.... today's real problem is that grammar/spelling is also dying and fairly quickly too... cell phones and auto correct make everyone the dumbest smart guy you know..... 4
Super User J Francho Posted October 21, 2014 Super User Posted October 21, 2014 What if i write out a list of things for you to do. You going to ask me to type it up for you? I ask for my micromanagement to be spelled out in hexadecimal. I'm gonna go out on a limb here, but I'm guessing C&G will not be working in a job where his boss gives him orders in the form of a handwritten list. Just a guess, though. He seems pretty bright. 2

Super User J Francho Posted October 21, 2014 Super User Posted October 21, 2014 I issue all my corporate edicts in pig-Latin. It's important to note that no one works under me.

Super User Catch and Grease Posted October 21, 2014 Author Super User Posted October 21, 2014 I just don't think cursive is nessecary anymore. Like J Francho said, it was meant to speed up the writing process. (Most) people have access to computers/electronics now a days...
Super User J Francho Posted October 21, 2014 Super User Posted October 21, 2014 An actual quote from a high school history teacher friend of mine: "Who cares if they teach them cursive or not. It's not like I can read their writing as it is." Oh boy, lol. I taught both my boys how to write myself. There's tons of books out there on it. I just wanted them to have an actual signature.
Super User tomustang Posted October 21, 2014 Super User Posted October 21, 2014 It may have been easier to write but it sure was harder to read everyone else's style. I for one am glad it is being phased out, helps to evolve and focus on other things.

Super User buzzed bait Posted October 21, 2014 Super User Posted October 21, 2014 Beautifully done and without a single capitol letter. A-Jay touche.... you might note that the teacher has ZERO capitals and ZERO punctuation marks..... i might do well in her class! 1
Super User deaknh03 Posted October 21, 2014 Super User Posted October 21, 2014 It doesn't count if I can't read it.
