Super User geo g Posted October 19, 2014 Super User Posted October 19, 2014 In South Florida it is never too cold to fish. In fact some of the best fishing of the year is in late winter and early spring. 200 fish for 6 hours is a real possibility. As water levels drop the fish become concentrated in the deeper pockets. Bucketmouth King Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 I get caught up on work in the winter. Im a self employed guitar builder/repairman, and I tend to get behind in late spring and fall. Mostly because im fishing. I do catch up work in winter and summer. Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted October 20, 2014 Super User Posted October 20, 2014 We get ice, not enough to fish on it but just enough to keep you from fishing ....Trout streams stay open, I have even caught them with 4-5 feet of ice on either side of the creek with a small gap of of open water in the middle. Going to experiment with the "hot side" of Lake Anna this winter as well. Quote
fishguy613 Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 catching big walleye and slab crappie through a hole in the ice! 1 Quote
Trap-n-Fish Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I trap, trap, and then I trap some more. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted November 2, 2014 Super User Posted November 2, 2014 Clean the reels, organize the tackle bag, and then label the boxes in the bag. Quote
PersicoTrotaVA Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 This will be my first "winter" in a long while. Living in So Cal the last 7 years I haven't really felt winter. I guess I will fish when I can and buy replacement baits and maybe a few new things. The rods and reels will get serviced and I want to try and build a rod and maybe learn to pour my own plastics and jigs. Quote
Super User geo g Posted November 2, 2014 Super User Posted November 2, 2014 In South Florida this is when it all happens. Bring on winter, we love it down here! Bedding bass, low humidity, mild, sunny days. It doesn't get any better then that!!!! Keep storing and cleaning your tackle, or bring it with you, and catch a double digit fish! Just don't keep them! thehooligan Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Fall through winter is my favorite fishing season. You typically have the lake to yourself. As long as theres no ice ill be out there chasing something. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Build jigs, figure out how to make lures better. Hunt!! Quote
LittleBob Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I've been thinking out getting into tying my own jigs, not pour them yet though until I get to where I cane tie them. I plan on making a order from Sieberts to get started. And I'm sure I'll buy a lot more tackle that I absolutely need haha Quote
