You will find both positives and negative reviews for every fishing line on the market from the entry level pricing to the most expensive. I personally feel that is because everyone uses different knots, do not check their line while fishing for dings and abrasions, or simply expecting a line to do something it is not meant to do...I used to hate Fluorocarbon until I realized that I needed to fish it more carefully and take my time with knots, and also needed heavier line as most of the nylon monofilaments and copoymers labeled 10lb test are really closer to 15lb test, and straight 100% fluoro in 10lb test is really 10lb test, so I needed to make the necessary adjustements and go heavier.

Many people fish copolymers and think they are using fluorocarbon as companies make it tricky to figure out if a line is nylon, fluorocarbon, or a mixture, and breaking strengh vs. lb test can be decieving as lines like Hybrid are much stronger and thicker than other lines. I use Hybrid #10 since it breaks at 16.6 lbs and the 20 breaks at 31, but I also realize I am using thick line, and when using fluoro #10, I realize that it is not as strong so I am more careful where and how I fish with it. I have used Fluoro from Stren, Berkley, Suffix, Seaguar, and P-line, and have come to realize that they are all good lines if I have the right line for the job I am doing and if I make sure I check my line after every fish even though we all get anxious to make a quick cast after a good fish....I used to hate fluoro as knots would break, temperature caused it to be stiff, and even though it is abrasion resistant it still needs to be checked often if fishing bottom, near rocks, weeds etc. Nothing is worse than having your line break and realizing that it was because the last 3 feet of line was all rough from dragging bottom and it has been an hour since checking. I check as often as I think of it and will re-tie if I feel anything at all, and it takes time out of the water but will save you from losing a big fish. I like to buy line on Twarehouse as I sort by best selling and I look to see what everyone is buying, and I also take note of what brands are on all the storage racks and avoid those lines, although it doesn't take much for a line to get a bad rep when it shouldn't.

I have alway's trusted Stren and Berkley products since they were what I used as a kid, and Seaguar is my first instinct with fluoro as it was the first I tried and heard good things about. I find Fluorocarbon will get you more strikes in most situations, but if I want to have a good day without breakoffs, I will go with #17 if I normally fish 12-14 nylon mono and if I look at the package, most of the 14lb test lines are thicker than the #17 fluoro.

Yo-zuri #6 is actually 12.8 lb test....I have used that line for years and not sure I have ever had a problem with yo-zuri line breaking but I realize it is not a fluorocarbon even if they market it as such, it is a copoly just like the majority of lines out there but rarely do they mention that word, just market the fluoro fused or coated part and it confuses alot of people and it is not at all similar to fluorocarbon 100%, but great for topwater, or all around line on spinning gear, not my fav for casting reels.

Try a spool of red label! cheap, durable, not super stiff, what more could you ask for? And if you end up hating it for some reason, you're only out 12 bucks :cut:

Sunline sniper fc. As you can see, everyone has their preference. #10-12 yozuri is a great all around line for a baitcaster.

What's the best flouro that won't break, get kinks, remain strong and not break despite rubbing against structure with a fish on???

Sunline Shooter or Toray Superhard Upgrade. Pound for pound, they're both the most abrasion resistant lines on the market (actually tested as such, not just marketing).

Tests show Toray Superhard being much more abrasion resistant than monos.  Seguar InvisX, which handles nicely and seems to hold knots well, has horrible abrasion resistance.  I use it but keep a careful eye on the last few inches of the line.  Contact with things like Zebra Mussels or rock will absolutely shred the stuff.  I retie a lot.

Tight lines,

Bob

For the money seaguar inxizx or sunline sniper

For more money seaguar tatsu!

+1 ... As was mentioned earlier - Seaguar Red Lable for leader material is cost effective and offers very good performance .

Really anything that is $20 or more per spool is pretty good.  Anything below that you couldn't pay me to fish with.  Berkley Trilene 100%, P-Line 100% (250yd spool), Sunline Sniper and Shooter are the ones that I feel comfortable buying.  I haven't tried Seaguar Tatsu but from what I'm told its EXTREMELY good.  The new Bass Pro Shops is actually made by Seaguar and probably wouldn't be afraid to try it.  I actually just purchased some Cabelas X50 which is also made by Seaguar and it comes in a 250yd spool for $18-25 or something like that.  Unfortunately I got to wait till late April- early May to try it out when the ice melts off the lakes around here.

Is anyone a fan of Berkley Trilene Or Berkley Trilene XL fluoro? I would like to compare it to Invizex handling wise, as well as sensitivity. Im not worried about low vis or abrasion resistance.

I had 12lb XL Fluoro on a baitcaster and liked it quite a bit. It's pretty similar to Invizx. Maybe a little less manageable, with slightly less stretch. It's good line. Trilene 100% fluoro is garbage, unless you like memory.

Alrighty! Il probably go w/XL then. I have used trilen XL mono and braid and trust their lines. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks Chris.  I've been researching everything I can about the 832 and it's been well spoken of.  I will look into the Power Pro 8 slick etc...as well.  Thanks again.

All braid will fray if you're bumping into snags. It's just one of the drawbacks. I prefer 832 over Slick8. Power Pro is a good all around value, but it's noisy compared to 832, doesn't cast quite as well. Best braids I've used is Smackdown or Samurai, but I don't think I'd pay the price over 832; they're only marginally better.

Thanks guys.  I've read up on just about all of them.  Seaguar was talked about positievly for the most part...but it's stupid expensive.  And everything I've read on reviews about Sufix 832 braid has been really positive for quality and price.  I think I'll be going with the Sufix 832.  I haven't made up my mind yet about Fluorocarbon tho....that's gonna be a tough one.

I have used Sufix mono for quite a few years now and I absolutely love it.  I fish a lot of docks and I've had numerous bass wrapped up but I have never had my line snapped.  It will come back frayed once they wrap up but it retains it's strength.  And I use 20lb test and it's got the diameter of 12-14 so I get great action on my jigs.  Thanks again guys.

I started a thread asking the same question and sunline sniper was the most recommended.  I tried it and Im amazed at how good sunline sniper FC is.  Its  soft and manageable like stren mono, with the added benefits of a great fluorocarbon line.  The only precaution I would suggest is to constantly "hand-pull" test your knots integrity before making cast and fishing.  Hope this helps...

Tackle Warehouse?

Thanks everyone from the thread starter. I fished Berkley Vanish in the past  and did not think it performed very well.   It looks like with the sale price, InvisX will get spooled up some this spring.
