Strothman Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Shooting a 5.5 fat beside bears 6 inch stick. The 6 inch sticks come out like a dream, the 5.5s on the other hand, are bothersome. In the time I made 25 regular sticks, I only made 6 fats. Almost all the 5.5s have air pockets. I've tried letting the plastic cool, pour it hot, and can't seem to get them right. Using baitjunkys plastic too by the way. Thanks guys Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted October 13, 2014 Super User Posted October 13, 2014 When I open pour sticks I use a spru extender. Not the ones that cost about $5 each though. I bought copper couplers in the plumbing section of Lowe's that are larger then the hole and about 1" long. I set them over the holes and pour until they are full. That gives me plenty of extra plastisol to accommodate any shrinkage. Quote

Comfortably Numb Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Mold should suck a good amount of plastic as it cools. The gate (skinny part at head of bait where you remove it from the sprue) might be too small or coling too fast (cloggig) and not allowing more plastic to be sucked in. I assume baits are horizontal and not vertical Plastc around 330* Purge air out of injector Inject slow and steady. 5 count. Hold firm pressure 10-15 secs. Remove inj and top off imediately Retop off every 10 secs till it stops sucking in. If this does not work, something is wrong with the mold or mold design. Quote
