fisherrw Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 How do you like this reel or do y think the rocket or premier is a better decision? I can get them all for around the same price. Quote
Super User David P Posted October 12, 2014 Super User Posted October 12, 2014 I have all three, they are good for different stuff. The premier feels though most stout and solid, I use it for flipping, punching, frogging, anything that I have 65lb braid or 20lb fluorocarbon for. The Rocket I use for frogs as well, more open water though, but it is my absolute favorite all around top water rod - spooks, buzzbaits, sammys, etc.. The MGX is more finesse feeling, I use it with 10 and 12lb fluorocarbon line for ripbaits, jigs, drop shotting, senkos, etc. Just depends on what you're looking for. I have 3 Premiers, 2 Rockets and 2 MGX , I use them all equally, but that's based on the way I fish. Figure out what you will use it most for and go from there. Quote
Dramer77 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 The MGX is the best reel I've used, it's made to be light weight so it won't feel quite as solid as a premier... Quote
jtesch Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Mgx for sure. I have several and use them for all kinds of techniques. they can handle more then finesse fishing but are really great with light weights. I have the premier and it's a nice reel but I'll take the MGX. I love the reel for pitching jigs and creatures up to 5/8 oz Quote
AMAC Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 What technique will you be using the reel for? Quote
