TBO Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Spent 3 hrs fishing today and not one bite! It was my second time to this pond, which is super clear water. Best way to describe this place is a soup bowl. The one with the wide edge then just a bowl in the center. This pond starts off at about 1FoW for about 20-30 yds almost exactly perfectly ringed around this pond with some slight deveations that drop to 12FoW and the center drops to about 30FoW their isnt any structure anywhere in the pond. (I dont have electronics so not sure what the deep looks like.no temp either)no rock piles, no undercut banks, no no weeds, no overhanging bushes, nothing. The wind was about 7mph when i got on the water at 5pm it then died down to zero wind about 7pm but had clouds and it got really dark. I fished crank baits, ratt-L-traps, a walking bait(forget the name its made by river2sea), T-rig 10" worm, arbogast buzz plug, arbogast jitter bug, chatterbait, spinnerbaits, and a rainbow trout swim bait. havent scored a bass in over a month now. So i know its not the fish its my error on not knowing how to transition with the fish. Or transition to an unfamiliar fishing hole . This is my first fall fishing and what a learning experience! Hope you all have better luck! Quote
TBO Posted October 12, 2014 Author Posted October 12, 2014 Yes i headed straight out to where the drop off was. I went upwind and let the wind drift me over. I made about 15-20 passes before i switched location. When it got darker and calmer i fished more of the shallow water. Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted October 13, 2014 Super User Posted October 13, 2014 Try using 2 or 3 baits instead of switching a bunch of times. Location>Lure Quote
guitarglynn1 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 I went out saturday and it was windy, rainy, and cold. I was out there a good 5 or 6 hours and I didn't get a single bite. And I have certainly had my stretches without catching fish. I just take it all as a learning experience. It's the tough times that make me read more and practice different things more and it always seems to help turn things around. So I always look at the failures as part of the process and part of the success in the end. You'll get em next time. Quote
