Squirmin Wormin Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 Was that lure you caught your pb on a goto/favorite lure that caught your pb? or a random lure you just picked out of your tb and caught your pb ? i myself caught mine on a random spinnerbait. and is not one of my goto /favorite lures. so did you plan on that lure you chose on that day expecting that pb? or was it a randomly chosen lure you used and didn't think would work but did catch your pb? what's your story on your pb,and lure you caught it with? did you chose that lure or pick a random lure that caught your pb? TBO Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I forget what i used. I got my pb 5lb when i first started getting into fishing, i used shinners at this pond and got 5-6 lbs consitently so when i started using imitation baits a couple years later i thought it was average but then realized how lucky i was at first. They started holding tourneys here and it became a parking lot and no more big fish Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Jigs catch big fish all across the country. My Pb was caught on a 1/2 oz Jig. 1 Quote

Super User senile1 Posted October 12, 2014 Super User Posted October 12, 2014 I was using a slow-rolled spinnerbait, which at the time and on that body of water, was a lure that worked well under those particular conditions. Random selection of lures is not something that I practice. Even on a really bad day where I try a number of techniques, I will always try to think through what lure I am going to try next based on the current conditions. Quote
brgbassmaster Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Mine was on a fluke style bait with a weighted soft jerk bait hook. Only reason i was throwing it is because it was at lake fork and people were saying it was working. Tossed it out on a drop off with a stump line and let it sink into 10FOW and bam 8lber. Quote

Justin Mott Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 I honestly caught my personal best with a 4 colored jig. I have tied it twice. Once with a crankbait and another time with a 4 inch senko. It was all pond fishing so everything that I do in ponds is completely different than my tournament tactics. I fish much slower in ponds since the fish are much easier to find. Take the senko as an example. I currently would never throw that bait in a tournament situation. But at the time that I caught that bass, I had caught nearly 50 bass and was running short on plastics. Justin Mott Quote
Duster7466 Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 I like trying new things. After reading an article about ripping spinner baits through the weeds, I decided to try it. I had trouble with the "ripping through" part and mostly collected weeds. After collecting a clump of weeds so large it was hard to reel in, I decided it was a bad idea. As I got the "clump of weeds" next to the boat it exploded, the weeds dispersed, and a 6lb 4oz largemouth started stripping line. Quote
Super User Sam Posted October 18, 2014 Super User Posted October 18, 2014 1. Green pumpkin with black flake Zoom trick worm on a shaky head in deep water, about 100 feet off the bank. 2. Strike King KVD Sexy Shad crankbait. around a wood pile. Both cleared 8 pounds. Quote

One of the guys in my bass club has won two tournaments this year and had a second place in a third by throwing Senkos. Tournaments were on rivers and lakes. So throw that Senko in tournaments. Quote
