dam0007 Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 Sup guys, got the rod in the other day. This thing is a beast. We had one discrepency with it which is gonna be worked on in a few weeks. The issue isn't really worth discussing. So let me just say this is going to be the ULTIMATE shaky/senko/tube Rod in the history of ever! DVT feel free to post whatever pics of the build. Quote
dam0007 Posted October 11, 2014 Author Posted October 11, 2014 PS I hope you guys have a napkin handy, you may drool a tad bit. Lmao Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted October 11, 2014 Super User Posted October 11, 2014 Cool.. What are the technical specifications? Quote
Hogsticker Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 Another custom Rod thread with no pics!? If the discrepancy isn't worth mentioning, why mention it? I sure would like to know what blank makes the ultimate shakey, Senko, tube stick. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess it's an Mhx high mod. 2 Quote
dam0007 Posted October 11, 2014 Author Posted October 11, 2014 Lmao I only mentioned it because I technically don't have a "finished product". Ok fine. So the stupid winding check above the locking nut is a hair to big after epoxy. So the little section in between I damaged loosening the nut. So we're gonna order a few different winding checks and and trial and error them till we have one that will fit flush when locked down. Sorta like Dobyns/Powell... I wasn't there during the build so all I have is the completed Rod. Dvt should have pics throughout the build. It's a MHX HM MagML/F Fuji Torzite guides Aero reel seat, cork split grip, paired and balanced to a Stradic ci4+. Quote
dam0007 Posted October 11, 2014 Author Posted October 11, 2014 And let me just say this being my first custom Rod I couldn't have picked a better person to do it! DVT! I couldn't imagine being able to go back and forth with anyone else. So Mike thanks again and thanks to Road Warrior for the suggestion as well! Quote
Hogsticker Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 Torzites - Heck yes. That Aero reel seat is super comfy. Good choices Quote

dam0007 Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 I've been eyeballing that exact blank for a while now. Please give us your thoughts after you get some time on the water with it. Well heres the deal. I wanted something specificly for shakey heads. As I couldnt fish them efficiently on a BC combo and my Cumara ML is too whippy for hooksets and I run 6#FC on it. We originally decided on a ML then I thought about how I also would like to have a braid ready combo on deck for senkos in thicker grass. So we bumped it to a M. When he went to order the M blank was sold out. So I went on the site to see other options as in length actions. I came across the MAG line up. He said the Mags are like inbetween ratings. So a Mag ML would be best of both worlds in my case. We were on the money. Tube application was an after thought. Had a tourney yesterday didnt make a catch on this particular rod yet. But the rod is ridiculously sensitive. I don't think Ive handled a rod this sensitive ever so I have no idea what to compare it. Current spool is 20# PP with 12# InvizX leader. I did manage to haul up a large branch around 40lbs of dead weight. This rod didnt break a sweat, I can see my self swinging in 2.5# Smallies all day on this rod easy. It casts just as good as anything in my lineup. Would prob cast better without the leader knot obviously. Its all around a great blank perfect for 1/8 shakeys,3/16 spider jigs, even threw 1/4oz lead headed keitechs. If you are in the market for a blank like this its definitley worth it. Quote
