Super User new2BC4bass Posted October 10, 2014 Super User Posted October 10, 2014 I don't have a Tatula, but do have more than one of the T3 1016 variants. Haven't seen a Tatula, but I assume they have the same type of braking as my 1016s. If so, then there is more braking adjustment than with older Daiwas. The new braking system should make it much easier for the centrifugal and dual brake guys. Not that other Daiwas are hard to use. Matter of fact my 50th Anniversary Zillion is a 'set and forget' reel. However, I do have one or two Daiwas that do require a little more fiddling with in certain conditions. I don't know what it is about the new Daiwa brake system, but I need a lot less brakes than on my other Daiwas. I don't understand why they have so much braking available on the T-wings when it isn't needed. Quote
Mike2841 Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 The tatula has the same braking as the zillion, but I think the adjustment knob has 20 settings instead of 10. Either way it's a great reel, I prefer it to the zillion. Quote
bass1980 Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 The T3 has Daiwas best in the 3D braking system, the Tatula does not. Both still are great casters but the edge definitely goes to the T3 as I have both. For the price I got my Tatula there is not better deal right now. Quote

I have 2 powell endurance 723's. #1 has a high end daiwa with os7's and upgraded spool #16 sniper. #2 has a stock Tatula with suffix 832 #50. Though #1 is considerably lighter,I find myself using the tatula a whole lot more. It's just a great reel for $100. Quote

No idea what Ron would charge, but I would be willing to spend a few dollars more to support a sponsor....and from what I read one nice guy. Just my opinion. New,return it to the seller and get a replacement or send it to Daiwa. Quote
desmobob Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 I picked up a new Tatula this week and have been using it for the last couple of days. I'm really impressed with it, not even considering the fact I paid less than $93 for it. I've been using it alongside my Lew's Tournament Po Speed Spool. They both are lefties and both 7-something-to one retrieve ratio. The Tatula's Magforce Z braking is easy to adjust and very effective! If it weren't for the size and weight difference (the Tatula is a little big bigger and heavier), I don't think I could tell them apart if blindfolded. They are both smooth as silk and cast like crazy. For half the money, the Tatula is one heck of a bargain! I would not hesitate to buy another one. Tight lines, Bob Quote
