Super User Catch and Grease Posted October 9, 2014 Super User Posted October 9, 2014 What are some good fluorocarbon or co-poly lines that you guys use that have low memory and preferably little stretch? I want a line that doesn't need a line conditioner to be manageable... Quote
TrippyJai Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 McCoy Mean Green for copolymer. I don't use my KVD line conditioner on this line. I have left spools on my reels for over a year and a few casts will make it limp again. It does have stretch though. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted October 9, 2014 Author Super User Posted October 9, 2014 I don't mind fishing a line with stretch as long as its not like a rubber band... Quote
Super User Darren. Posted October 9, 2014 Super User Posted October 9, 2014 P-Line Floroclear has very little memory. One of my favorite lines. 1 Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted October 9, 2014 Author Super User Posted October 9, 2014 P-Line Floroclear has very little memory. One of my favorite lines. I used Fluoroclear and it was alright... it seemed pretty stretchy though, I haven't used it since like December and I could have sworn it had a lot of memory, I might give it another try considering the price lol Quote

One of my favorite lines, always liked it because it didnt have alot of memory. Others ive been using on a regular basis now is p-line cxx, very strong line but it does have memory, and yozuri hybrid. 1 Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted October 9, 2014 Super User Posted October 9, 2014 Sunline shhoter. Best fluoro I've ever used. Like it quite a bit more than tatsu Quote

I do not spool any of my reels with straight mono/copoly/fluoro any more. My stash of line includes a lot of 600 yard spools of Yo-Zuri Hybrid, and a lot of P-Line Floroclear. Floroclear is awesome line. When I did spool it straight, it was the most limp of lines I had. As well, I go from 6 to 15 lb test in P-Line. I believe I used 6 or 8 when spooled straight. Both of those were great. Quote

I've actually been using Yo-Zuri Hybrid again lately in 4 lb, 6 lb, and 8 lb test leaders on all my gear. Have had a good run with YZH the last few months, so haven't used PL Floroclear much, though it is still probably my favorite. I was pondering tying a leader on yesterday when I realized I didn't have any with me.... 1 Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted October 9, 2014 Author Super User Posted October 9, 2014 I use braid with and without a leader almost exclusively, I want to start getting more into fishing straight FC and co-polys One if the big reasons I like braid is because it is so manageable, and I would like a FC/Co-poly that easy to manage. I dont really use spinning gear anymore, but for the years i did, 10lb braid with a 6lb floroclear leader worked so well. Ive been playing with a few different shallow spools in my casting gear now and most of are not braid friendly. So ive been spooling straight 8lb floroclear, 6lb cxx, and 6lb maxima ultragreen with great results. The one avail spool i have is spooled with 10lb braid and i havent even tried tieing a leader yet cause ive had no line management problems with the straight copoly. Need to pick up some 6lb hybrid to test it against the others... 1 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 9, 2014 Super User Posted October 9, 2014 Well, Tatsu hands down, but for less expensive alternatives give Yo-Zuri and Izorline a try. 1 Quote

I use casting gear the most - two Chronarch 50e models with 20 lb yellow PP + leader. The worm setup (Chronarch + 6'6" Carbonlite) will get 6 or 8 lb leader, the "hard" lure setup will get 8-15 lb test. My spinning rod (1000FI + 6'6" Carbonlite) gets anywhere from 4-8 lb test leader. I'll switch out to heavier leaders in spawn... 10-15 lb test. Quote
cottny27 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Darren, is Floroclear anything like CX Premium? I've had bad bad issues with CX snapping on the hook set in 12# & 15# if I can recall. I've avoided trying Floroclear because of this. Quote

I've had bad bad issues with CX snapping on the hook set in 12# & 15# if I can recall. I've avoided trying Floroclear because of this. P-Line's FAQ says this (I had to find this on another forum as I can't find it on P-Line's site anymore): Q: What is the difference between Floroclear and CX-Premium? A: Floroclear has about 30% more fluorocarbon, and is a more true castable fluorocarbon line. Floroclear is clear, while CX-Premium has a slight fluorescent tint to it. Floroclear has about 10% more stetch than the CX-Premium. Floroclear also has smaller line diameters at respective pound test sizes. Floroclear is slightly stronger in breaking point at respective pound test sizes. Quote
cottny27 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 The CX was awesome for low light senko fishing when you gotta be able to see your line. Stuff would glow, but it probably did the same under the water. Still looking for that Seaguar quality line for a Floroclear price..might be looking for awhile. Quote
chris55552 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I recently tried sunline sniper and its been good line. Best fluorocarbon for my uses. Quote
cottny27 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I've been using AbrazX & InvizX. Buy it online from Walmart and have it shipped to store for free. Paying only about $18/spool compared to $23 at bps or Cabelas. It's been working for me. Quote
Bruce424 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 MCCOY EXTRA CLEAR!! That line is the only line besides braid that has little memory as it does. If I was a pro this would be one of my sponsers. Haha. I really like this line. Quote
