"The Reel Mechanic" was a BR sponsor for many years and a great source of helpful information.

We will miss you Mr. Green.

I am new to this forum as of 15 minutes ago and this topic is exactly why I joined. Dave had been keeping my round Ambassadeur reels in fish cathing condition for about 5 years now and I just learned of his passing today. I phoned his shop to let him know I would be sending in my reels for their annual cleaning. Mrs. Green answered and told me about his passing. She was the one who led me to this site as her husband mentioned it numerous times. She asked me to get on here in hopes of finding a good reel man to take David's place. I live in Kansas and welcome any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

If you are local to Wichita, there are two guys that perform reel maintenance in this area.  If Wichita is not local, or you don't mind shipping your reels, Mike at DVT is a site sponsor and is as close as your mail box.

Delaware Valley Tackle is a site sponsor and is highly reccomended by the people on this forum, I have never had him clean my reels but from the way people talk about him you couldn't go wrong with giving him a look. If you click on his logo on the right side of the screen it should take you to his website.

He is a goldmine of information when it comes to Rod & Reels...

Chris, do you have a link to any info?  I don't want to call down there, and disturb his wife.

I'm in a little bit of shock on this one.  Dave was both very helpful to members on this forum, but to me personally.  He could be a little crusty, but he ALWAYS had time to chat about fishing, reels, rod building, and just anything.

Sad, sad news.

Sounds like a good old fashioned AMERICAN....  didn't know him, but RIP.  Prayers to his family.

I am sorry to hear of Dave's death. He was a great help to many of us over the years. Yes he could be a little crusty; but his honesty, intelligence, outspokeness, and confidence far outweighed any lack of diplomatic skills. He spoke his mind and had the courage of his convictions. His input will be missed.

Wow.  I missed this back in October.  I usually clean my reels but last year, I cleaned half of them and sent Dave the other half and they came back pristine.  I was going to send the other half to him this year and was just getting ready to drop him a PM when I saw the notice on his member page.  This is definitely a loss.
