Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 Any Harry Potter fans around here? I haven't asked this in a while, so I figured I would check again. On another note. Does anyone believe in witches and wizards? Me, I have proof that wizards and witches do exist. My soon to be Ex just made my paycheck disappear like it was magic. It was there for 3 hours then poof! All gone! Quote
Super User Raul Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 I´m not a fan per se, I like the movies and find them entertaining. On the subject of witches and wizards, sure there are witches and wizards, do I believe the magic they perform has any consequences ? nope I don´t believe it does, I´m skeptical and do not believe in charms, enchantations or prayers of any kind or form ( excuse me if that bothers or offends anybody ). Super User Fishing Rhino Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 Count me in. I have all the audio books, and listen to them when I am traveling. Quote
Super User Raul Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 Forgot to mention, I also have the 2 Lego Harry Potter video games ( for PS3 ), funny thing, I enjoyed them more than my kids. Quote
tipptruck1 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I never could get in to the movies. I also never read the books. Maybe one day I will add them to the "Library". As for wizards and witches. Yea they exist. Wizards are engineers. Just because they can do it on a computer. As soon as they hand you the print. The expect the part in return. Like handing the print to a guy. Will all of a sudden make the part appear from thin air. Witches are woman. Tell me any other creature on earth. That bleeds every month, and lives. They can make men do dumb things. Just for a few minutes in bed. Among other things. If that is not magic. I do not know what it is. 1 Quote

Super User Fishing Rhino Posted October 9, 2014 Super User Posted October 9, 2014 I put the series on my Ipod. I've listened to it many times, and each time I pick up some things that I have not caught onto. Rowling's writing and imagination is incredible. All the events that seemed like nothing at the time become important to the story line. The first couple may have been okay for kids, and they may watch the rest and enjoy them. But, the saga gets darker with each succeeding publication. The first is lighthearted with some dark moments. By the time you reach the end it is indeed dark and for all purposes becomes a full fledged horror story. I have found only one contradiction in the story, and it has to do with Harry's invisibility cloak. It turns out to be one of the Deathly Hallows. According to the story line, it is perfect and no magic can penetrate it. But, in the story, Madeye Moody's magical, swiveling eye was able to see Harry when he was wearing the cloak. So much for no magic being able to penetrate the cloak. Quote

Super User Fishing Rhino Posted October 9, 2014 Super User Posted October 9, 2014 Wizards? Of course there are. As a kid, I used to watch Mr. Wizard on television. 1 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted October 9, 2014 Super User Posted October 9, 2014 Mr. Wizard was one of my favorite shows as a kid...used to watch it while i was eating breakfast every morning. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted October 9, 2014 Super User Posted October 9, 2014 Do I believe, not exactly. If you want to read a good book series about a wizard, pick up the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. A good story for giggles, across the street from my brothers house is home with a sign that is for a " Professional Witch". She has lived there for years and is supposed to be the real deal. On the other corner is a school with a real cemetery attached to the play ground. On the other corner is a church and behind his house is a school for nuns and troubled teen girls. He lives at the corner of creepy and scary. Love the Harry Potter books though. Quote
